45 weeks old

Dear all,

I am already 45 weeks old. This is also the second day of the Chinese New Year. That's why I am wearing a red T-shirt. This is a real cool shirt. It says, "Jesus loves this Baby". That's right, it says Jesus loves me! Aunty Cheyanne and Uncle Denton got me this shirt for Christmas last year and I first wore it when we went to Uncle Bernard's house for a gathering as Mama guessed that Aunty Cheyanne and Uncle Denton would be at Uncle Bernard's place and it would be a good chance for them to see me in this T-shirt.

Today, Papa also bought me a toy hammer. The kind that gives a funny sound when you hit it against something. He happened to see it at a shop and he bought it for me. You can say I am extending my kingdom of toys. Haha.

In one of my previous posts, I mentioned about putting me to sleep. Well, this is one method that Mama uses. That's right. She puts me in the playpen to cry myself out after our evening routine of a bath and a bottle of milk, prayers and song. Then she will then have a much easier time to helping me sleep.

This is also an area where Papa would handle it differently. He believes in creating a pleasant experience for me in the playpen. See the difference? :)

Another method is to put me on my bouncer chair after my evening routine and rocked me to sleep.

Chinese New Year Goody

Dear all, this is my first Chinese New Year goody. A packet of Wang Wang crackers! Packets of these crackers were offered to us guests when we went visiting Papa's relatives during Chinese New Year.

Urm, I didn't get to eat the crackers. Mama just allowed me to place the packet in my mouth. When we left the relative's place, Mama took the packet with her but later threw it away at Papa's instructions.

The person in white who is carrying me is my Grand-Uncle Johnny. He is the second youngest brother of Nai Nai and perhaps about 10 years older than Papa.

Talking about Chinese New Year goody, I was not allowed to eat any by Mama but Nai Nai secretly gave me a small portion of loveletter which is a thin crispy wafer made of pandan-leaf flavoured egg batter. When Mama saw Nai Nai giving it to me, she moved closer to us and then Papa stopped Nai Nai from giving me more loveletter in case I develop allergic reactions. Mama said next year when I am older, I will be allowed to eat the Chinese New Year goodies. Hmm, what goody shall I eat then? ;)

Watching TV

Guess what am I looking at? The TV! Mama took this picture when I was watching Love Blossoms 2, Aunty Cheyanne's favourite show. She will be so pleased to know I am watching it too! Haha!
But Mama does not always catch this show.
Nowadays, I seem to be able to appreciate cartoons better. Previously, I like to watch Little Nonya, a drama serial on the life story of a Peranakan lady. When the trailer of the show comes on Tv with its background music, I will be captivated by it.
Also, I get to watch Hi-5 if I am not taking my morning naps at around 11am. Mama likes to take my hands and wave them around to imitate the actions of the Hi-5ers singing their opening and closing songs when we are watching the show together. I am happy to let her do this too.
If you are wondering why Hi-5, it's because there was once when I watched Hi-5 and I responded with a "yay" sound and Mama thought since I respond to the show, she will allow me to watch it as it is not too bad a show for kids. :)

Standing

Hi, want to see a picture of me standing? Here you go.... Actually, this picture was taken about 2 weeks ago but Mama has not been successful in posting the picture. By then, I was able to pull myself up with the support of the coffeetable or the boucner chair. I am now 44 weeks old and I am learning to stand without support. Mama and Papa has observed me trying to let go of whatever I am holding on to for support to stand on my own. Maybe I will be able to walk before turning one year old...

No Pictures

Mama has been quite slack in updating my blog for the past week due to a few reasons :
1) She was busy playing Scramble on Facebook.
2) She has been encountering problems uploading my pictures both from her handphone camera to the computer and from the computer to my website.

Reason #2 is much more dominant and please try to bear with the pictureless updates. Mama will try to work on this but if you know how things can be worked out, please let Mama know, ok? :)

Teething!

Dear all, when Mama was preparing to bathe me yesterday, she saw my newly-emerged tooth/teeth. She was really excited! Although she was unable to tell Papa immediately since she has to bathe me, she felt a sense of gratitude towards God.

I had been showing signs of teething such as drooling, loving to bite things for quite a while since last month but my teeth were not visible until yesterday. In fact, Mama has kind of given up waiting to see my teeth as they don't seem to be appearing after the signs of teething had been around for a while.

There are no pictures as Mama was not able to take any and my tooth is just the size of a full-stop you see on your handphone when you are sending a text message. Yet unmistakably, it has emerged. Yeah!

When Mama told Papa over the phone, Papa told her to quickly brush my tooth as he does not want me to have tooth decay. When Papa came back from work, he quickly examined my mouth and saw the little tooth I have. He said now I can start to eat many different types of food. Yeah! What will I get to eat this Chinese New Year? Maybe not much under Mama's watchful eyes. ;p

Be Like Papa

One evening, Papa was playing with me when he decided I may want to be like him. You know, do the adult stuff like wear a watch, carry a wallet, etc. So this is
what he did to me.

My Shoes

Nowadays, I have my shoes on when I go out. This pair of blue shoes were bought by Papa for the occasion of my baptism. As my feet perspires a lot, Mama now airs my shoes on top of the TV set and many a times, the wind will land them on the floor. Here are some pics of what happened when I got hold of one of the shoes.

Yes, I actually bite my shoes. Mama remembers once when she held one of my shoes near my nose and after that, I had never bitten that shoe anymore but simply held it in my hands to examine it visually for the rest of the time. Mama thinks that is proof that I know what is smelly. You see, my feet perspires a lot and that shoe certainly was smelly and that was why Mama placed it near my nose. ;p

Dear all,
Mama has been very busy for the past week as she was preparing to lead worship at the youth service in church and trying to keep an eye on me.

This evening, we went to Nai Nai's place for dinner. Nai Nai gave me a wedge of orange and boy, I love it. It tasted sweet and as the wedge of orange was too big for my mouth, I had to open my mouth as wide as I could to eat it. Yummy sweet orange. Too bad Mama did not take a picture of me eating orange for the first time.

For the past few days, I seem to sleep for longer periods. Today, I slept about 4 hours in total for my morning and afternoon nap. Mama is quite pleased with this. For at least 2 evenings last week, Mama has been placing me in the playpen to let me vent some of my energy by crying my heart out before she carried me and tried to rock me to sleep. This worked as Mama found that I am no longer pushing her away when she carried me in her arms after she lifted me out of the playpen.

Nowadays, I am also eating 3 semi-solid meals a day except for weekends when Mama has to go out and give tuition and when we go to church on Sunday mornings. On a typical weekday, Mama would give me a small bowl of cereal in the morning and porrige for lunch and dinner. Mama cooks a small pot of fish porridge which will be both my lunch and dinner. Today, she made a bigger pot of fish porridge so that she could also eat it for lunch and it was when she ate that she realised she added too much ginger into the porridge in an attempt to mask the fishy smell. The porridge actually tasted a little "spicy" with so much ginger but I had no problem with it. I am really easy to please when it comes to food, just like my Papa. :)

There are no new pictures of me taken recently on my blog as something seems to be wrong with the computer and it would hang when Mama tried to download my pictures from her handphone. So please bear with me....

42 Weeks Old

Dear all,
I am 42 weeks old today and I can stand with self-support for a short while. Mama read that most babies at my age will find it difficult to bend their legs to sit down when they are standing. Not so for me. With support under my arms, I can stand, sit and even take a few steps. Mama believes I will soon be able to walk.

Now that I am more mobile, Mama finds it needful to keep an eye on me more often and this means she will have less time for herself. I have since discovered the electrical supply plug and the wheel of the vacuum cleaner in the living room and Mama has kept the iron that used to be placed at the living room too.

I explore my surroundings by touch and many a times, Mama has smacked my hands followed by a firm "NO" to let me know some things are just not meant for my touch. Nowadays, Mama seems only to remember to smack my hand and ask me to let go and she has forgotten to say no to me. Today, when she smacked me 3 times on my hand to get me to let go of her glasses, I cried.

Also, Mama is going to try to establish a sleeping schedule for me. You see, I only slept a total of less than 3 hours every day for the past 2 days. Mama's first concern is that she has less time for herself but she is also concerned that my lack of sleep may affect my growth and development.
It is getting difficult to put me to sleep nowadays. Rocking and singing doesn't quite help. What will Mama do to tire me out? Keep reading to find out.

Baby Abuse

Once in a while, Mama would think of some things to do to bully me. Just look at what she did with the stacking rings Aunty Siew Lan bought.

If you think Mama would be sorry for upsetting me, you are mistaken. She actually laughed!! Yes, she went "HaHaHa" kind of laugh.....

Napping in a Playpen

Dear all,

This is the first time Mama placed me in the playpen to take my nap. I have a love-hate relationship with the playpen as I dislike being left alone in it. Many a times, when Mama place me inside, I would cry when I see she is about to leave.

This afternoon, Mama decided to let me nap in the playpen even if I have to cry myself to sleep. This is because she found a trail of ants on my bed and as she is not able to change the bedsheet in time, she decided to let me cry myself to sleep in my playpen.

Surprisingly, I did not make a fuss when she placed me inside. Maybe it's because I was already tired and I soon fell asleep on my own. No crying baby for my Mama. :)
