baby carrier

hi all, this is Mama's newest "travelling tool" - a baby carrier. When I am placed in it, she can carry me somewhat like a backpack. With this carrier, we can take public bus together. Mama bought this a month ago or so and she wished she had bought this earlier.
She used to have one given by Uncle Raymond and Aunty Irena but her poor psycho motor skills only allowed one of us to be in that carrier at the same time. Only Papa can use that carrier effectively as he used to put me in that carrier and did housework like mopping the floor. This new one Mama bought is more user-friendly and here is a picture of me in the carrier with Mama. We were on our way to the coffeeshop opposite to buy chicken rice for Mama's lunch. Don't you think I look happy in this carrier? =)

Behind Bars

Hi all, this is me behind bars, eating a piece of apple.

After some reminders from Mama, Papa bought this gate to keep me away from the kitchen. You see, my pram is parked at the entrance of the kitchen and Mama is afraid I may just come into the kitchen on my own while she is busy in the kitchen and end up having the pram crash onto my little head. The consequences will be unimaginable.

Also, there are some wires hanging around near the pram because of the multi-socket that Papa and Mama uses. Hence, it is for safety purposes that Papa installed this gate at the entrance of the kitchen.

This is a very good gate and Mama is happy with it as it's made in such a way that my fingers will not get caught at the hinge even if I am holding onto it when Mama or Papa is opening it. There were even times when I "opened" gate for Mama.

One thing that Mama did not expect is that I actually use it as a support and learnt how to bend my knees so that I can change my position from standing to sitting. Smart leh? Talk about value-addedness, this gate certainly has served more functions than expected.

There were times when Mama simply fed me with a bottle of water through the gate. Just imagine feeding a bottle of water to a small animal in a farm through its pen and you get the idea. :)

But it's quite a tall gate and Mama is not able to go over it just by lifting her legs. So if the child-proof locking mechanism is spoilt, Mama will be stuck in the kitchen. Haha!

Passport Photos

For my first birthday, Papa wanted to let give me a passport for travelling overseas and so the idea of taking my passport picture had been kind of hanging overhead. Today, since Papa is on leave, he and Mama decided to eat lunch at Lot 1 where they can get my passport picture done.

I was a good boy and slept through while Papa and Mama had their lunch and Mama even managed to grab some ingredients from NTUC to make dinner and more meals for the following days. When Mama came back from NTUC, I was still asleep and they thought they will have to take my passport picture another day. Just as they were about to leave the foodcourt, I woke up and so off we went to have my passport pictures taken.

Although I just woke up not too long ago, I was all ready for the photo taking. I was all smiles but turned my head in different directions to look at what was happening. Eventually, this photo was chosen by the lady who took my pictures.

Lovely smile, yah? That was what the lady said when she explained why this picture was chosen. Actually, there were not many choices as I was curiously looking around when my pictures were being taken and it was hard to have a picture of me looking into the camera. If you look at my picture carefully, you can also see my two little teeth that has yet to fully emerge. =)

Still, Mama must apologise for letting me wear such a sloppy looking shirt in this passport picture. Maybe she should take me for another shoot in a nicer shirt though Papa doesn't think so. ;p

The Playground and the Crying Gal

Yesterday morning, Mama brought me to the playground downstairs. It has been a while since Mama last brought me here. After a while, as I was not really doing much to explore the playground, Mama decided to take me a little further to the fitness corner. I used to spend quite a bit of time watching people play basketball in the basketball court next to the fitness corner when Mama brought me here for our early evening strolls.

There weren't anyone playing basketball in the morning but there were some old folks doing their exercises using the simple equipment at the fitness corner. It was at this fitness corner that I made a girl cry.

You see, at the fitness corner was this little girl whom Mama later found out was about 2 months older than me. She and her Mama came near to us. She even gave Mama the plastic Snoopy she was holding in her hands. She stood quite near to us and since Mama had allowed me to be on the ground, I decided to find out more about her.

I crawled to her and pulled myself up by using her as a support since she was just standing next to me. And she cried! Mama quickly said sorry to her and her mama profusely while her mama quickly carried her to assure her it's ok to let me tug at her. Mama told me it's not right for me to tug at girls and apologised to her mama again.

Mama later spoke to the girl's mama and found out the girl is about 2 months older than me. This is how I made a girl cry for the first time... haha.... ;)

11 months old

Hi everyone reading my blog, I turned 11 months old today. Mama took this picture for me this morning to show I am now interested in taking out books from this box. Mama and Papa did not do anything special to celebrate but I did had some fun today.

I really laughed a lot this afternoon when Mama played peekaboo with me. I was at one side of her queen-sized bed and she crouched at the opposite side. Then she would pop up like a jack-in-the box and said,"Here!" in Mandarin. I really giggled hard at this. After Mama's shower in the evening, she played this game with me again. She wanted to tire me out so that I can go and sleep quickly but she might have caused me to be even more alert.
This afternoon, when Mama tried to close the door of the room to kind of keep me alone in the room, I cried and she quickly opened the door. I don't like to be alone in a room behind closed doors. If you do this to me, I will cry.

My lunch and dinner today is porridge with steamed minced chicken topped with red dates and wolfberry. For dinner, Mama actually steamed a purple sweet potato for me so that she can say I had my vegetables today. I like the sweet taste of the sweet potato and almost couldn't have enough of it.

Mama also brought me out to buy dinner for herself and Papa in a pram. On our way home, I didn't want to be in the pram anymore and Mama had to carry me. When she lifted me out from the pram, she found that one of the scotch tape on my diaper had come loose. Mama whispered to me that we should quickly get home. Of course, she was only play-acting. I am just a little boy. Who cares if my diaper is coming loose...

Also, as we were travelling along the MRT tracks, I had quite a few chances to see the train pass by. Shortly after Mama carried me, a train passed by and I smiled! Papa said I do like trains. Mama suggested to Papa that they should take me on a MRT trip tomorrow since Papa is on leave and they have plans to take me out but Papa is not too keen. We shall see how things go.
Ok, that's about all for my 11 months old birthday. See you again! :)

My First Trip on a Public Bus

Today, I took my first trip on a public bus with Mama. Just a short trip from my place to Yew Tee Central which is just about 3 bus stops away. Mama wanted to go to the Mac Donald's there to buy lunch for herself.

I have never travelled on a public bus before though I have been on a MRT a few times. You see, Mama usually takes me out in a pram and it's quite a hassle to take me and the pram up the bus when Mama is alone with me. Hence, we usually travel by the MRT as Mama can easily wheel me to the MRT station which is about 15 min walk way and it's quite pram-friendly to travel by the MRT. In fact, Mama has travelled with me on her own to our church at Tanjong Pagar once on the MRT on a Sunday morning when Papa was not able to accompany us there.

Today, Mama decided to try out the new baby carrier she bought last Saturday by taking me out. So she put me in the carrier and off we went. Thank God that the bus came soon after we reached the bus stop and everything went smoothly.

The only thing is, Mama has a slight backache after she reached home. Maybe she should fine- tune the way I was carried. Haha.

47 weeks old

Dear all,

I turned 47 weeks old yesterday but Mama forgot to take a picture of me! Well, we just have to make do without one then but Mama has decided to put some pictures of me so that the blog won't look too wordy.

Yesterday, Mama brought me marketing at Lot 1 NTUC. All went well as I was sleeping in the pram until I woke up towards the end of the marketing. Mama decided to feed me with the oatmeal cereal she had brought with her as I might be hungry and so we went to the KFC nearby after Mama paid for the grocery.

At KFC, Mama put me on a high chair before she made the cereal. When waiting for her to make the cereal, I made so much noise shouting in the restaurant that Mama felt embarassed by me. It was a good thing that it was late morning and there were not many people around in the restaurant. When Papa came home, she told him I was so noisy that if Papa was there and I wasn't his son, he would have felt like giving 2 slaps to this noisy kid.

Nowadays, the sounds I made are beginning to sound like sentences. Not that they are understandable by an adult but with more intonation and expression.

3 days ago, when Papa was putting me in a car seat, preparing to bring me for lunch, I blew at him. Yes, I made my mouth a little 'o' and blew at him as if I am blowing at a candle. Maybe I can blow out my own candle when I turn 1 year old?

Nowadays, I am having some experience of being showered rather than taking my bath in a bath tub and I love it. But when water runs down from my head to my face, I will look like I am in a state of sudden shock and will want to cling on to something or someone. It's just not me when this happens. Looks like Mama has to do some training to help me overcome this fear of water running down my face. Still, Papa and Mama think I am ready to go swimming. Will blog about this when the day comes.

Diet wise, Papa and Mama are starting to explore using a little seasoning in my food but Mama wants to tread with care especially I was born pre-term and maybe adjustments should be made when it comes to when I should really be allowed to eat table food though the books and websites said I am allowed to eat table food after I turn 1 year old.

Ok, that's about it at the moment. See you again. :)

First Hp

Since I am quite interested in remonte controls, Mama decided to buy me a toy handphone when she sees one which resembles a remote control so that I can have a "control" that I can call my own. And this is what my first handphone looks like. Ta-da!

Maybe Aunt Cheyanne would be pleased to know it has a sticker with her favourite Barbie doll on it. It actually came with 2 batteries and when Papa installed the batteries, there would be some music when you press the buttons.

Unfortunately, Papa threw it away a few days later after he and Mama talked about the harmful products from a particular Asian country. You see, my handphone was made in that country and is very cheap. They do not want to run the risk of me coming into contact with any potent chemical that can be in handphone especially when I am still at a stage when I tend to put almost everything in my mouth. So bye bye, handphone and bye bye, Barbie doll.

I love Hi 5!!

Mama cannot remember if there was any time when I was ever this close to the TV set when it was switched on. What you may like to know was that this may be the first time I actually crawled towards the TV set when it was switched on.
I even hung out there for quite a while. Need more be said about my favourite show if I do have one? ;p

First Toothbrushes

Now that I have 2 teeth cutting through, Mama decided to buy me a toothbrush. As she was undecided about which type is better, she decided to get me both types. The pink one has a rubber head which is supposedly to help me massage my gums. The yellow one is more like the type that the adults are using and Mama thought maybe my teeth can be brushed in a better manner with it.

When Mama first gave me the pink toothbrush, she decided to let me "brush my own teeth" as she did not want me play "tug of brush" with me. She thought that perhaps when I explore this toothbrush in my mouth, it's as good as her massaging my gums. So here I am, "brushing my own teeth".

Mama also bought me a finger toothbrush but that will be another post on another day. When she was bathing me today, Mama actually tried to clean my teeth with a small towel. That is another method of cleaning baby teeth. Do you like to brush your teeth?

An Engineer In the Making?

I have been quite interested in remote controls nowadays, in particular, the control to the TV set. You see, there are quite a few remote controls in my house: one for the VCR player, another for the DVD player, one more for the Robo-cleaner and one for a fan. Last but not least, the one for TV set which Papa has verified, is my favourite. Last Sat, I even fell asleep in my bouncer chair with the TV remote control in my hands.

Papa thinks it's because I have often seen how he and Mama uses the TV remote control when they watch television and hence it is my favourite. Mama can see that the remote controls kind of fit nicely in my hands and are light enough for me to switch from hand to hand. Many a times, I simply pull myself up to the coffeetable where these controls are placed and take them to the floor for further examination.

Also, I like to play with wires. Those that are coated with plastic of course. Papa said maybe because I associate wires as the same kind with the chain that is clipped on my shirt to keep my Tutu from being lost.

Are these signs that I am an engineer in the making? ;p

In a Box

Hi, this is me in a box. Papa experimented with placing me here once when he was taking care of me. This box now contains most of the books I have. Cute huh? Not so if you know that after this episode, I actually regurgitated some milk into the box on another day.... ;p
