Seasme Seed Paste

hi all,

A couple of weeks ago, my da yi po came to visit us and Mama brought her and me to the Hong Kong cafe at Yew Tee Point. They ordered a black seasme seed paste. It's a Chinese dessert made of grounded seasme seed. I didn't seem to like it very much after taking a few mouthfuls. but still, it's good enough for Mama to capture some shots. For your viewing pleasure. :)

I Was So Going To Swensons

A couple of Sundays ago, Papa felt like having western food for dinner and so we dined at Swensons at Bukit Panjang Plaza. This is me waiting for the dinner to be served. Papa didn't like it that I was making some noise while waiting for the food and decided to silent me with the pacifier.

Papa ordered a pizza for himself and Mama plus a kids' set meal of Fish and Chips for me. As the pizza came before my set meal, Mama decided to let me try the crust of the pizza with the mozarella cheese.

Yummy! I love it.
When the fish and chips was served, Mama continued to give me the pizza as the fish was still very hot, having just been deep fried. Well, there were actually more pieces of fish and chips but Mama decided there was too much food for me to finish and so she and Papa ate some of it.

Add Image
Papa also ordered a waffle ice cream and I also got to eat a little. A small highlight was when a family of four at the table behind Papa celebrated a birthday and I actually clapped when they finished the Happy Birthday song! Maybe it was because I saw the someone in the family clapping and so I just clapped along.... yeah! ;)

Shopping At Metro

Last week, Mama wanted to browse for a cooking pot and so she brought me to Metro at Causeway Point. When we were there, she thought she will buy some clothing for Papa and brought me to the Men's department. Just look at me busy myself at the row of cupboards. Mama has to leave my pram and Papa's clothing to come after me but she also had a good time taking my pictures. Now, this is a different story from the grocery shopping altogether. :)

Grocery Shopping at NTUC

Dear all,

Guess where I am? Hint : Look at the bottom of the picture at the pack pf diapers for a clue. Can you spot me?

That's right, I am here!

No worries, though, I am not hurt by the bag of diapers in any way. Mama just thought it would be fun to let me try carrying the diapers. Mind you, I am strong and this bag of diapers won't do me any harm.

Nowadays, Mama is finding it more difficult to take me grocery shopping because I don't like to spend a long time in my pram. Just look at me in these shots taken on another grocery shopping day.

Mama placed the basket in my pram with me as I am getting restless and she hoped I could be entertained with carrying the basket.

Just last week, she took me to Yew Tee NTUC for grocery shopping and decided to let me try walking with her rather than having me in the pram. When she placed me on the ground, I made a beeline to the Four Leaf bread stall where Mama often buys me steamed cake. I even pursed my lips and made some 'pop' sounds gesturing I know that is where food comes from. No pictures here because Mama was trying to keep me out of trouble at Four Leaf..

Anyone wants to take me grocery shopping? ;)

Silly Silly Part 2 : I am A Lampshade

Dear all,

As you can see, I am being made to look silly again. I like to check out the Ikea container in the living room and so Papa placed this Ikea container on my head and said I am a lampshade. Mama said my yellow singlet matches the colour of the container nicely. haha. ... ;)

Worry not, though. I am learning to fend for myself.... :D

Papa was very touched by me

Today, I did something that moved Papa very much.

After dinner, Mama went to see a doctor for her mosquito bites and Papa looked after me. When Mama left the house, I was in my playpen and was quiet with my pacifier in my mouth. Papa was having dinner in the kitchen. After she left, I presumably got bored and started throwing the balls and toys out of the playpen.

When Papa let me crawl out of the playpen after unzipping its side, I actually took the balls and put them back in the playpen. When this happened, Papa was very touched because he felt that there is finally someone in the family who is neat and tidy like him. Although I did not return all my toys to the playpen, Papa thinks it's a good start. When Mama came home, he told me I am really a very nice boy. :D

Yes, I am able to put things back in their places if I so desire. Mama thinks I will grow up to be a neat chap who likes everything to be properly in place. In this aspect, Mama is glad that I resemble Papa. :)

Silly Silly!

Every now and then, Mama and Papa likes to make fun of me. See, I was checking out the phone in Mama's bedroom when she placed my chow-chow on my head pretending it to be a wig. She used to do it more often and would say, "Silly-silly!" and I would break into a grin.

But as shown below, I am retaliating....

Bubbly

Not the champagne nor my personality but just a few shots of me with my first bottle of "bubbles". It is actually diluted liquid detergent. Mama decided to buy me a bottle to keep me happy when she was buying some grocery from the 24hr provision shop opposite where we stay.

I do not know what this green bottle is for when the pictures were taken but I certainly enjoyed looking at the bubbles, chasing them and touching them. Mama thinks it's a bit of a pity that the loop were small and hence the bubbles are quite small. Well, we can't expect too much from something that only cost a dollar, can we? Still, we had a good time playing with this in our room at Bintan Lagoon Resort. Cheers! :)

My Doodle Board

Konichiwa! If Mama is not taken, this is my name written in Japanese. A few weeks ago, Mama bought me this doodle board. It's a whiteboard with probably some iron filings and the yellow stylus on the left hand side comes with a small magnet at its tip. One just needs to write on the board using the stylus and the magnet would attract the filings which will then form the words or pictures one has created. And Papa wrote my name in Japanese on the doodleboard. I already know how to make some markings on it within a few days.

See my masterpiece below. Do you think it kind of looks like a river? Mama does. :)

Bintan Trip Episode 4

All good things must come to an end. On the morning just before we left Bintan, we had breakfast at the resort cafeteria. Then I had another late morning nap before Papa and Mama brought me to the Japanese restaurant for lunch.

While waiting for the food to be served, Mama went out to take some pictures of the resort. Here is a picture of the Japanese restaurant taken from outside.

Here is a parting shot of our family of three taken shortly just before we left the resort.

Though I look tired when I was in the coach traveling towards the ferry terminal in Bintan, I only fell asleep when we were about to reach Singapore in the ferry.

Oh, something worthy of mention is the custom clearance. When we reached the customs in Singapore, Papa went through the last round of custom clearance on his own before me and Mama. It was the one with the conveyor belt that brings every piece of luggage through a X-ray machine and everyone must go through a frame that has a metal detector. Papa went through it first and turned round to lookout for me and Mama. As Mama was with me and the pram and the pram needs to go through the x-ray machine, Mama decided to let me walk through the frame on my own with Papa watching me while she puts the pram on the conveyor belt. The Indian lady immigration officer held my hand and according to Papa, I walked through the pram very confidently. Mama is so proud of me! She thinks maybe I am a traveller in the making. ;)

Papa thinks this trip is an important milestone for our family as it marks more family vacations coming up. But given the pandemic H1N1 going on now, where can we go? ;)

Bintan Trip Episode 3

On our second day, Papa woke up earlier to go for breakfast so that he can bring me around on his own while Mama could enjoy hers. But that was not to be. As soon as he left the room, I woke up and Mama tried to wash herself up quickly and brought me to the cafeteria as she needed hot water to help me make a warm bottle of milk. She thought Papa would be there but by the time she reached the cafeteria where Papa was having breakfast, he was not there anymore. She had no choice but to settle me down and asked for some hotwater for me.

You may wonder what about the electric kettle in our room. Well, it was a faulty one that will trip and cause the entire hotel room to black out and so Mama and Papa did not use it much.

In fact, there was a couple of blackouts in the first night and the room was really in pitch darkness. Mama could not even see her own fingers, much less see me when the blackout happened. Did I cry when it happened? Of course not!! I was too young to be afraid of the dark, Mama supposed. Or maybe it was because I knew Mama and Papa were still in the same room with me and I could still hear them talk to each other despite not seeing them.

Anyway, after breakfast, Mama brought me to the beach and though there were no photos to document the event, Mama remembers I squealed in delight as the waves lapped my feet.

Mama then brought me back to the room to change me so that she can bring me to the swimming pool while Papa goes for a massage. By the time she changed me and brought me to the pool, I had fallen asleep and Mama had to bring me back to the room. Haha. ;p
Mama thought that since I was taking a nap, she will have a nice relaxing shower and then she took some time to read the Bible. When I woke up, we went to the Japanese restaurant at the resort for lunch. While waiting for the lunch to come, I wasted little time as I quickly wnt to explore the restuarant. There were only another couple in the restaurant other than Mama and myself. I enjoyed going up the raised platform where the teppanyaki counter was and Mama was fine with letting me just go up and down the platform. When Papa came back from the massage, he came and took me back to the room.

Soon, we went swimming again.

This time, Papa brought me to the pool before we headed for the beach and we had a good time. Papa really loved the beach as the sand was very fine and the seawater was very clear. We could even see fishes swimming even though the water was only ankle deep. Mama is timid and initially hid behind Papa when he told her he could see the fishes.

For both dinners on the first and second day, Papa ordered room service. For our first dinner at Bintan, I had some fish from the Fish and Chips Mama requested and my second dinner was spaghetti bolognaise. I did not take much of both food as the dinner was kind of near my bed time and I was kind of busy walking around. Also, Papa and Mama was trying to catch a korean drama on tv and ordering room service meant they can watch the drama and then try to put me to sleep. It also seemed cheaper to order room service at the resort too.

It would soon be time to head home. :)

Bintan Trip Episode 2

When we arrived at Bintan Lagoon Resort, we checked into the room that Papa has booked through Internet prior to the trip.

There is a raised platform in the room next to the king-sized bed and Mama really loves this platform.

As for me, it was the LCD TV mounted on the wall that caught my attention. See me try to multi-task by climbing down the platform with my eyes fixed on the tv. ;)

Mama also requested for a free baby cot for me and it came with two small bolsters, a small pillow and a small blanket. Mama found it unsafe for me to sleep in the cot because with the cot mattress inside, it would not take much for me to reach over and fall out of the cot. She thought maybe I will have to sleep with her and Papa on the king-sized bed but ingenius Papa decided to take out the cot mattress out and let me sleep on the mattress placed on platform. Look behind the cot and you will see the cot mattress there.

In the end, the cot was more as a place to contain me so that I will not run around the room when Papa or Mama is unable to keep an eye on me.

We went swimming on the first day when we arrived. Though I was a little tired, I obliged Papa and Mama by going to the pool with them. It's the first time I swim in a pool. It was fun but not really as tiring for me as Mama imagined.

Though I was to sleep on the mattress for the night, Mama put me to sleep on the bed before transferring me to the mattress. I slept on the mattress very nicely until I made some noise at around 4 or 5am in the morning and Mama then transferred me to the bed so that we can all sleep together. Papa commented that we will probably be the earliest to go for breakfast because I had woken up so early. It took me a short while before I could fall back to sleep again. You see, I seldom co-sleep with Papa and Mama since birth and I really am not too good with co-sleeping with them. It seems like as long as Mama is next to me whenever I try to sleep, it is good enough for me. :)

Bintan Trip Episode 1

Dear all,
Just the Monday that passed by, Papa and Mama brought me to Bintan for our first family trip. Bintan is one of the islands in Indonesia that is just a 50min ferry ride away from Singapore and Papa decided it would be a good try to test out how we can go for family trips overseas. It was a good experience for all of us.

Just before the trip, Papa made a lot of preparations such as booking the resort, purchasing online ferry tickets and reading relevant blogs of the place written by Singaporeans who have been there. Mama also had a friend Aunty Sisi who just went with her family a couple of weeks before us to advise her. Mama started preparing and packing for the trip since last week.

As for me, I had some preparation work too. Look at me, Papa bought me my first swimsuit and here I am, testing it out at home before the trip.

On Monday, 8th June, we left our house at around 10am and went for brunch before setting off to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal. We waited more than almost 2 hours before we could board the ferry. Well, it didn't really bother me as I was busy running around the place most of the time.

The above picture was taken at Tanah Ferry Terminal before we set off for Bintan.

I have no problem of seasickness during the ferry ride and I even fell asleep in Mama's arms in the ferry. :)

If you are interested to find out what did we do in Bintan, please be patient. Mama will post more pictures and blog. To be continued.... ;)
