More 26 Months Old Pointers
#1 : I had learnt to hold water in my mouth for some time until I find a container which I spit into. Choice of containers includes : the bowl used to hold my porridge, the brick truck gift from Gu Gu and Gu Zhang and the back bucket of my tricycle. The list is not exhaustive.
#2 : I like to have Papa or Mama piggy back me. I will initiate this when I go behind them when they are seated on the ground and then out my arms around their necks. At least, that's how I get Mama to piggy back me. Mama likes to piggy back me too.
#3 : I am engaging in more pretend play but I play too seriously. A couple of days ago, I was pretending to fry something by tossing some plastic toys in an inverted shape sorter. Mama asked me to try the taste and I really put the plastic toy into my mouth.. Mama said I am playing too seriously.... ;p
#4 : Because I like to play, I tend to hang around even if I look sleepy. Many a times, my parents can see that my eyelids were droopy but I simply refuse to go to sleep. Neither do I crank nor kick up a big fuss. I just keep going, keep playing. What Mama will try to do, if we are at home, is to simply leave me in my play pen with my bolster and my pillow. For my comfort, she will bring out the electric fan from my room and have it blow at me. Mama actually likes to have the fan blow at me this way as the netted side of the play pen actually acts like a protective "filter" such that what reaches me in the playpen is just a nice flow of moving air rather than a chilly wind.
26 Months Old

In fact, I love buckling to the extent that some of my nail cuticles had been pushed back during the buckling process when the buckle slided over my finger. Occasionally, Mama thinks I will also hurt my fingers cos I will show my fingers to Mama after I finish the buckling. 2 evenings ago, I passed by the Mac Cafe at Yew Tee Point and would have buckled all the high chairs I saw if Mama had not stopped me and taken me away. Also I still do not know how to unbuckle though Mama had shown me a few times.
At 26 months old, I still love to watch Sesame Street. Mama has erased most of the Hi-5 shows she used to record for me last year with the Sesame Street shows she taped from TV channels.
From watching Seasme Street, I learnt the song "Where is Thumbkin" and I actually attempt to follow the actions of the song when I saw it play from the Sesame Street website. Mama was very impressed that I tried to curl my fingers in my attempt to follow the actions of the songs.
I could not curl my finger to do the thumbs up which is part of the song and so I end up curling the whatever fingers I could curl.
I also know very well when my pictures are taken and here is me, striking a pose for Mama outside Chef Daniel's Kitchen at Illuma.

I still love to talk on the phone and I know how to operate the camera that is in built in Papa's phone. I am also appreciating ice cream better. This is me at an ice cream joint last week and I got to enjoy Papa's cookies and cream flavoured ice cream as well as Ma's durian flavoured ice cream. Yum... :)

As you can see, I can also feed myself. :)
I am also sprouting my molars and I tend to put my thumb or index fingers in my mouth to kind of soothe my teething gums when my pacifier is not with me. But other than my mouth, I also like to place my index finger in my nostril too. eee..... ;p Of course, Mama will try to dissuade me from doing it and sometimes, she even smacked my hands gently to try to stop me but I am not easily persuaded.
At this age, I am curious about many things and yet, I am also timid when it comes to trying new things. Last week, when I went to Jurong Bird Park with Mama, Nai Nai, Gu Gu and Gu Zhang, I was keen to watch the panorail. But when Mama actually bought a ticket for us to ride in it, I wanted to hold Mama's hand when the ride first started.
If Mama remembers correctly, last month, I started to take note of accessories. I had removed the hair band that was holding the ponytail on Mama's head. This picture below was taken when I wore Mama's watch for a brief moment.

Not only had I started to take note of accessories, I attempted to accesorize myself. There was once when I was to to out with Mama when I took Mama's thumb drive and put my head through loop formed by the thin band that was attached to the thumb drive. This attempt to accessorize myself surprised Mama somewhat. Then at Nai Nai's place, I saw this small strand of silver tinsel which is about slightly less than 10cm long with 2 small bells attached to it. I actually placed it on my head. Mama said that was another attempt at accessorzing myself.
Now, my parents are no fashionistas, keeping to the basic essentials for their wardrobe choices. Could this be where I differ from them?
Taling about accessories, my parents bought me 2 pairs of shoes recently as I am outgrowing my older pairs but I am refusing to wear them, preferring to stick to my old shoes. This is really me with quite a mind of my own. :)
For the past few days, I had suddenly started babbling quite a lot and quite a lot of babbling I did. Yesterday morning, Mama went to the market and Papa was supposed to keep watch over me as I slept. When Mama came back, Papa told her that I woke up and started babbling for about 3 minutes according to his estimate. It's as if I was telling him what I dreamt of when I was asleep. The way I babble seems to imitate the sounds of Mandarin and Shu Shu said I may start speaking in Mandarin. I could go on and on for quite a while and my parents both think I will be very talkative next time.
Gu gu said I am definitely communicating except that I don't use a language that many can understand. Mama recently found out from Nai nai that Papa also started talking at around 3 years old. In fact, when Papa started school at 4 years old, he was still not talking very clearly. The knowledge of this family history makes Mama think that is probably where I got my delayed speech from. But my parents are not worried anymore. It's a matter of time when I will open my mouth to speak and when I do, there is perhaps, no stopping me. :)
Alrightey, time to rest our sleepy eyes. Thanks for reading this far. Don't you think I look sleepy in the picture below? Perhaps it's just that moment when Mama's camera happened to catch me looking like this. I was actually still pretty active after this picture was taken ;)

Mother's Day

Shu shu suggested this place and it is a nice place which is not too crowded. In fact, when we arrived at around 5.30pm, we were the only patrons there. The good thing for me is that there is space for me to walk around.

We were told that there is only set meals available that evening and so all of us settled for it except for me. Mama had brought porridge for me and here is Papa, feeding me with the porridge so that Mama could enjoy her main course of char-grilled salmon. See the steak at the bottom left right corner in the picture below? It is Papa's main course of ribeye steak and Papa sacrificed his turn to eat so that I could be fed first.

The dessert is brownie and it sure looks nice. Mama was too busy eating and by the time she remembered to take a picture of the food, this is only what she could manage. ;p

After dinner, we went to the arcade near the restaurant. I already ventured there when I went for my own walk with Mama and I was a bit apprehensive about going in as it was dark and there were a lot of strange noises.
But when we went there as a family, I was carried in the arms of one of my parents and it emboldened me a little.

The arcade at the 4th storey is more brightly lit. Papa found his long lost favourite arcade game with Marvel Heroes and with 50 cents, he played marvellously for probably about 5 to 10 minutes according to Mama's estimate.
Meanwhile, I ventured to this drum set and repeated the sequence of hitting the drum using the drumsticks and then putting the drum sticks back to their pouches.

Here are Papa, Aunty Cheyanne, Uncle Denton and Shu shu playing Spot the Difference before we called it a day to go home. Most probably, my parents will be here again but whether they will bring me along, it's another story. ;)

A Birthday Gift Pack

Eating Sweet
As mentioned in the previous post, I chose a sweet of all the items in the birthday gift pack. But I didn't really take well to its taste at first. But after a while, I was ok with it though I did not seem to enjoy it.
And no wonder because this is what the sweet wrapper looks like. Mama wonders if my classmate's mum is trying to be funny, putting such a sweet in a birthday gift pack for children. ;p

Bye-bye, Ye Ye
It didn't take long for Mama to decide to keep me from school for the rest of the week as one of the last things my parents want for me, is to come down with hand-foot-mouth disease at this point in time.
Another thing that was different that Thursday was that Papa didn't go to work. Instead, in the morning, he sat me on his lap with our family portrait in his hand and explained Ye Ye has gone to be with Jesus. I didn't quite understand what was going on.
Then, on Saturday, Papa and I went to this porch near where we stay when Mama was away giving tuition. I was kept entertained on my high chair with VCD played by Papa's portable DVD player. We spent quite a bit of time at the porch the next few days.

On Sunday evening, many people came to the porch and there was a short period when my parents left me with Uncle Sam and Aunty Angie, our church friends, while they sat at the front row for a funeral service.
Then Mama came to me and then we lined up in a row with Nai nai, my parents, Aunty Cheyanne , Uncle Denton and Shu shu while many people came and shook our hands. I didn't quite shake many hands as I was too young and many patted my head instead. After a while, I chuckled probably because I thought it was funny that many people just came and shook hands with my family.
On Tuesday afternoon, our whole family, my parents, Nai nai, Aunty Cheyanne, Uncle Denton and Shu shu gathered around the wooden case again and Rev See prayed with us. Papa said I had left my mark on the wooden case because I left my handprint on the plastic panel covering the case and I tore out some of the lace lining the edge of the plastic panel. Mama managed to put the lace back in place though.
Next, we set off to Mandai Crematorium where another service was held. Then, the wooden case was seen no more. Bye bye, Ye Ye. May we meet again in a much better place.
(ps : a note from my mother: the following picture was taken after the funeral service on Sunday evening. This may cause some discomfort if you are not used to seeing pictures of funerals and coffins. So please feel free to skip it if you prefer)

At Da Yi Po's place
A couple of weeks ago, Mama brought me to Da Yi Po's place. She stays near to a MRT station and I spent a lot of time at her window watching MRT go by. Every 5 minutes or so, I will run to the window and da yi po (and sometimes, Mama as well) will go with me and stand me on a stool to watch the MRT trains go by. Mama said that she is glad that she does not stay there or she will be kept really busy with my constant running to the windows. ;pThe Little Helper

At 25 months old, I still like helping Mama. Mama made me carry the loaf of bread she bought this way because if she does not, I will drag the plastic bag on the ground after me. Mama thought I just wanted to carry it for fun but when Mama fetched me from school today carrying a bag with fishball and green vegetables, I actually remembered and carried that bag of fishballs and green vegetables in the same manner. haha. ;p
