41 Months Old

Hi all,
I am 41 months old! For the last few days, I had been talking about the first letter of many words. For example, when we were on our way home in Papa's car, I said something like,"P is for ice-cream" and Mama would correct me that "I" is for ice-cream. In this way, Mama had been telling me the first letter of many words whenever I initiate such a conversation.

The past week or so, I had stopped my evaluating sentences. Last month, I had been using a lot of evaluation sentences. For example, I would say,"Sometimes, we go to Science Centre. Not bad." or "Sometimes, I play iPad, not bad". Mama was very amused when there was once Papa sang an advertisement jingle to me and I said,"Good singing, Papa."

Last week or so, I "graduated" from the iPad to the iTouch. I spent most of my Tuedays and Thursdays at Nai nai's place and her tenant Rendy gor-gor actually owns an iTouch. Nowadays, when I go to Nai nai's house, I will head to gor gor's room and ask for his iTouch. Mama thinks I may prefer it as it fits my little hands better. Nai nai reported that I once jumped up and down when my request for iTouch was refused. In the end, Nai nai succumbed to my jumping. This set Mama thinking that perhaps, I should not be spending so much time at Nai nai's place.

According to Papa, I take even better pictures than he does. See, I took this picture of my parents when we visited a goat farm earlier this month.

I am also very sociable.

I saw this jie jie at a playground with her camera and was not shy to go up to her and said hello. Initially, she thought I wanted her to take a picture of me. Soon, she was showing me how to take pictures using her camera. I love pressing the shutter buttons again and again. Jie jie was so kind to allow me to take so many pictures. The object of my picture-taking? My mother who was trying very hard to coax me to leave jie jie alone and don't spoil her camera... sigh... ;p

Besides taking pictures, I also like to have my pictures taken. I actually asked Mama to take my pictures after I climbed this fixture at the playground at Lot 1.

The week that passed, Mama had tried to get me to sleep earlier when she has time with me. On Wednesday, she brought me swimming after my nap. Today, she brought me on a long MRT ride to Bras Basah where we had dinner before meeting Papa at Dhoby Ghaut. It was my first time taking the Circle Line and I told Papa I like the Circle Line. After meeting Papa, we went Liang Court where Papa had his dinner before we went home.

Guess what time I slept on Wednesday? 10.15pm! And for today, I slept at around 10.30pm. This is certainly much earlier than my usual 11.30pm. Looks like it's really possible to get me to sleep earlier by having me get shorter naps and then tiring me out. Then again, we ate our dinner outside on these 2 evenings. Looks like Mama has to think of how not to compromise on my nutrition when she tries to take me out in the evenings.

That's about all for the moment. Thanks for reading so far. God bless you. :D

Angry Birds

I had been playing Angry Birds on the iPad and recently, I even watch how Angry Birds is played on Youtube before playing the game on iPad. Mama had no idea if I really imitate moves from the video when I play my iPad game though.

So Mama was quite happy to get me this set of Angry Bird toys. It cost about $13. Mama thought it was a good way to move me away from the virtual edition to a concrete one.

Mama was kind of excited about presenting this to me that she even brought it with her when she came to pick me up after school.

Can you what did I say when I managed to hit the plastic pigs using the toy bird?

"Level Cleared!!"

Unfortunately, I pressed down on the spring too hard and spoiled the catapult in less than 3 hours after laying my hands on the toy. The good news is, my heroic Papa came home and managed to fix it. Hurray!! :D

Big Mouth!

Mama and I were at the entrance of the Science Centre when I suddenly said,"Big Mouth!" Initially, Mama could not hear me clearly but after repeating to her a couple of times and when she looked at what I was referring to, she got it. Here you go, Big Mouth!! :D

The Lord's Prayer

Hi all, here is a clip of me saying the Lord's Prayer. For your viewing pleasure.. :D

40 Months Old

Dear all,
I am 40 months old now and I am really talking a lot! The past few days, I had become more instructional in my speech. The phrase I often use is, "I show you". For example, when I feel like settling down to sleep, I will ask Papa to leave my bedroom and go back to his room. I will say something like "Papa go back to hotel room. I show you" and then proceed to walk to my parents' bedroom where Papa will sleep on his own while Mama settles me.

Mama is also quite tickled by statements of evaluation that I made. For example, I would say,"Sometimes, I play iPad, mm, not bad." "Sometimes, I go Science Centre, not bad."

Mama suspected I caught the phrase"not bad" from watching Hi-5 as it was said by Lauren during her segment.

Last Friday, Papa fixed a broken toy for me and just now, when I was playing with it, I remembered my father's labour and said,"Good fixing, Papa."

Mama guessed I picked up the act of specific praising as sometimes she will praise me specifically like "Good listening, Daniel"

With almost daily practices with my parents for the past few weeks, I had also learnt to say the Lord's prayer. I can now recite it on my own but recently, I had been omitting some verses. Occasionally, I will break into the Lord's prayer on my own and it goes something like, "Our Father in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.."

Yes, sometimes, I need a word of prompting here and there but I can generally say all of the above. When Mama hears how I omit the front, she will guide me to say the verses I had missed out.

Also, I can now list things. A few weeks ago, Mama was so impressed to hear me say I want to eat "Fishballs, and soup, and rice, mushroom and noodles" for lunch. Although she can't remember the exact sequence, and the exact words, these were the 5 items I had specifically asked for. Mama thought the fact I can make a list is really a cognitive milestone for me.

I can also list the "No" rules Papa set for me. They are no pinching, no screaming, no running , no scratching and no pushing/no snatching. Mama has also taught me to move my fingers to indicate numbers from 1 to 5. I can hold up my thumb and index finger to mean 2.

The week that passed, I had been pretty hooked on playing Angry Birds with my parents' iPad.

That's about all for the moment. Mama had more to say but she lost her efforts when the Internet connection failed for a little while, and so she has to re-type everything again... kwa kwa kwa kwa... ;(

I was ill...

Last month, I also fell ill. I had an infection which caused me to have running nose and cough. I also had a high fever that was about 39 deg C and that was why I was given this mask when Mama brought me to the clinic. I refused to wear it. Mama asked for an adult mask and showed me it's fine wearing one.

She also tried to make use of my vanity as well as my love for photography and asked me to pose for pictures with the mask. I put it on just long enough for her to take the picture above and immediately removed it after my picture was taken. You can see just how much I dislike it. ;p

Thank God I soon recovered after a week or so.

My 40 Month Birthday

Hi all, I turned 40 months old on 18th July. That day, my parents brought me the railway track near where we stay. This track is for trains that go from Singapore to Malaysia but it is no longer in use. Papa thought he wanted to show me the track and so we came here after breakfast.

It was late morning and a little hot. But I am fine with it as it means I can carry an umbrella. I love to carry umbrella. Hence, it's not too much of a hassle for me and Mama to be out on a day if it drizzles. Mama simply carries me and I will hold the umbrella in my hands to shelter both of us. But not too long a travelling distance please, Mama will get stressed out. haha.

The above are some pictures we took.

This is Mama's favourite. She took this picture of me when she was posing with Papa for me to take a picture of them. Sounds confusing? In other words, she took my picture when I was taking a photo of them. ;)

In the evening, we went to Nai nai's place for dinner. I also gave Gu Gu a card to bid her farewell as she will be returning to US the next day.

That was how we spent my 40th month birthday. Cheers. :D
