Visit to Singapore Art Museum Part 3 (videos)

Upload some interesting videos...

See how the flowers bloom again after people walk past the patch :)

This one below is the one which Mama mentioned about me really enjoying myself hiding behind the "curtains" that were supposed to be waterfalls.

I stood captivated by this one for quite a while. :)

To the Art Museum We Went

2 weeks ago, after church, Papa decided to take me to the Singapore Art Museum where there was this children's exhibits themed Art Garden : Children's Season. There were about 7 small exhibition rooms where child-friendly exhibits were displayed.

There were 2 rooms on each floor except the ground floor which had only 1 room. We had to climb the stairs from the ground to the 4th floor to see all the exhibits.

This was the exhibition room on the ground floor.

There were some workstations with worksheets for us kids to colour but I was not too keen with this maybe because I was a little tired and so Papa did some colouring by himself.

Can you see spot me in this enchanted garden display? :)

This jie jie could. :)

There was this floribot display which really impressed me and Papa. Of course, we were thinking of different things. I was probably captivated by so many moving robotic flowers while Papa was probably thinking of the engineering and programming behind it.

See, I was so immersed in this piece of artwork...

What was most fun for me was hiding behind some strips that was supposed to be a waterfall for a garden. I laughed the hardest behind this "waterfall".

This is me in the middle of the "water" that was from the waterfall. The white lines are supposed to be water flowing in a certain direction, say from left to right of the picture but because I had stood at this spot, the water were re-directed to flow around me just like the way water will be re-directed to flow around your feet if you are to stand in the middle of a stream of flowing water, hence the lines in front of and behind me.

Very amazing technology, huh? This is really interactive media. :)

My parents were supposed to take me home for a nap when we finished the exhibits but I fell asleep even before we reached the car park. They then decided to eat their lunch, wait for me to awaken from my nap and we went to the museum again after I woke up. It was almost a full day at the museum and it was much fun for me.

But Papa was a little tired out. He dozed off when he sat in the movie clip exhibition room after I had my nap. This is a room where short films were being screened at certain intervals. Well, you can't blame him. The room was air-conditioned, dark and there was a couch that could seat 2-3 small families comfortably. Was it mentioned there was also space for me to run around in the room without having to worry that I will land myself in danger cos the steps were very broad at around 2 metres according to Mama's estimation.. ;)

Mama Spoke Too Soon

Warning : The following blog contains pictures of body waste which Mama will not encourage viewing just before a meal or immediately after eating. If you prefer not to read about such stuff, scroll down real quickly to the next post and you probably won't see much to upset your appetite. :)

The other day, after I had re-created the cake experience using a slice of bread given to me during breakfast, Mama had to clear up the table and the mess because I also spilled some Milo on myself. So she tried to change me into another shirt but I didn't want to wear another shirt and so Mama left me to play half-naked in the living room by myself as she cleared up the kitchen.

As she washed the cups and plates, she thought to herself that it's nice that I am now more grown-up and I can play on my own in the living room while she did her work. But she had "spoken" too soon. When she went back to the living room after the wash-up, this was what she saw.

Ok, seems pretty harmless except for some mess in the living room, right?
Look closer...

Yah! I did it! (picture was deliberately placed smaller in hope that those who prefer to skip this post and not see such pictures do not get accidental glances. ;p)

And guess what was I doing when Mama found me? :)

No pictures for the answer because Mama does not want to show pictures of me in that state. No, such pictures are more for personal collection but you can imagine that I was actually totally naked.

Yup, that's right. I had probably sensed my bowel movement, removed my disposable diaper and threw the diaper into the dustbin next to the computer table. I then did my poop in the living room and brought out the bag of Mamy Poko diapers into the living room to have Mama help me wear a diaper.

When Mama found me, I was completely naked and pointed the poop under my legs to her. There were 2 spots where my poop landed. The above being only one of the spots. I was also holding a small book titled The Lord's Prayer in my hands.
Instead of screaming at me, Mama just asked me to stand still and she quickly took her handphone camera to snap some pictures before she cleared me up. Looks like Mama really "spoke" too soon when she thought I was old enough to play by myself in the living room without getting into trouble... haha... :)

27 Months Old

Dear all,
I am already 27 months and 1 week old. Last Friday, Mama bought me a very small round mango mousse cake from Four Leaves to celebrate my 27th month birthday with me. There was a small candle too and my parents sang me the birthday song. I tried to blow at the candle flame as instructed by my parents but I did not succeed in blowing out the flame.

3 days ago, I actually "re-created" a birthday cake by stuffing my slice of bread into the small round cup. At first, Mama did not know what I was doing. Then, it made sense to her when I tried to blow out an imaginary candle.

Mama was extremely impressed that I had remembered the birthday cake experience and had actually tried to "re-create" the cake and the experience again. My maternal grandma said I am very intelligent! Don't you think so too? :)

Another thing I did which was a sign of my intelligence : I actually invented a game and initiated to play it with Mama! It happened one night when Mama was trying to put me to sleep. We laid beside each other and I had my pacifier in my mouth. I covered my face with a small newborn pillow, placed my hand on the pillow and removing the pillow and the pacifier together, using the pillow as a cover-up for the pacifier. It's like some kind of magic. Ta-da! My pacifier is gone! (when in fact, I knew all along that it's hidden under the pillow cos I was holding onto the pacifier)

I then turned to Mama as if my pacifier had disappeared. Mama asked me where my pacifier is and then, my pacifier will show up under the pillow! Sometimes, I will give my game away when the pacifier dropped out but Mama thinks it's not like I accidentally dropped it but I had let it drop out for a good laugh.

Now, it's a game that I played with Mama every night when she tries to put me to sleep.

Talking about sleep, I had been sleeping late again. For the past few nights, I only slept at around 10.45pm which is really late. I will then wake up at around 7am in the morning. Mama just hope I will sleep early again.

These past 2 weeks, I had been babbling a lot and Shu Shu even told Mama there was once he was resting in his room when I went to him and started babbling a lot of things to him. One morning, Papa walked out of his bedroom and I went to him and started talking to him too. Papa heard me said something "po4 diao4" (or sounded like it) and asked me what had "po4 diao4". (po4 diao4 means "broken" in Mandarin)

However, I was using my baby language and nobody understood what I was actually saying. The week that went past, I had said lots and lots of "爸爸" and "car" and I can go "papa, papa, papa, car, car". It's like I am trying to link the 2 words together.

Mama thinks I am trying to recognise letters. I had been pointing to lots of letters and Mama had read them to me. For example, when we went swimming, I saw the height indicated at the pool as "1.0m". I pointed to the number 1, the letter m and the number 0 and then I will point again at the number 0. Mama will read the letter and numbers to me and when she tried to test me after a while, I got it right once and then lost interest. Once, I also pointed to the letters on my T-shirt and Mama will read the letters to me.

This month, I am also doing lots of climbing and Papa is seriously going to have window grilles installed at our place. See what I did at Uncle Keng Hsin's place? :p

And this is me when we went to a playground called Toa Payoh Sensory Park. See how high I actually climbed..

I have also taken an interest in building blocks and my current favourite toy is a set of plastic blocks that can be stacked on top of each other to form a square-based pyramid. This may sound boring but I had been spending a lot of time on this set of blocks the past 2 days. You see, this set of blocks not only forms a pyramid but they can also be stacked in many other ways to form other structures. Mama will take a picture of me playing with them and you can see what I mean.

Mama also found me more manage-able this month as I seemed to be more cooperative. The only thing is, she now have a problem bringing me to Yew Tee Central for marketing. Whenever we reach Yew Tee Central, I associate it with taking MRT rides and I will ask Mama for her card and rush to the gateway with her card.

The thing is, we usually do not need to ride the MRT. But Mama had allowed me to take the train just to keep me happy.

The most recent trip, we even take a MRT to Choa Chu Kang which is just one stop away and then back to Yew Tee again, just so that I can take a train ride. Perhaps, it's time for Mama to put her foot down and be firm to me.

Last month, I also served God in church for the first time. I was walking around when it was time to collect monetary offerings from the church school children and I was actually given the task to bring the offering bag around to collect offerings from the church school children. Mama had helped me by holding my hands which were holding the offering bag and guiding me to go around to collect the offerings. But at the end of it, I actually put my hand into the offering bag and fished out a $10 note and a $2 note. Mama was reminded of Judas Iscariot who was recorded in the bible as someone who helped himself to the money in the offering bag. She hopes I will not grow up to be like him next time. :)

Since a month or 2 ago, I had shown that I had understood that I am being teased and laughed consciously about it in an embarrassed (paisei) manner when Mama teases me. Sometimes, I will hit Mama as if to tell her to stop teasing me.

Ok, that is about all, Mama will update again when she can. Thanks for reading so far.. bye... :)

First Day in Tokyo

Ok, back to the trip to Japan.:)

We arrived at Narita International Airport bright and early at around 7am (Singapore time). After checking out, Papa bought the bus tickets for the 8.35am (local time) bus. Japan is 1 hour ahead of Singapore and we boarded the bus at 8.35am. Everything was new to me and there were so many things to see. I only fell asleep after spending more than an hour in the bus but I soon woke up because we had arrived at Sunshine City Prince Hotel where we would stay for the next 3 days.

Unfortunately, an early check-in was not allowed and we had to wait from 10am to 1pm (Singapore time) before we could check in.

So we walked around the mall next to the hotel. My parents found this tempura shop recommended by Uncle Aaron and Aunty Catherine at the basement of the shopping mall. So this was what we had for our first meal in Tokyo. We were among the first few customers when the shop opened at 11am local time.

See the little white bowl in the middle of the tray? It contained a half-boiled egg. You may think it's no big deal. My parents had a surprise because it was cold. Not the room-temperature kind of cold but cold like it was chilled in the fridge before the waiting staff served it to us. Mama wonders how this chilled half-boiled egg was made. :)

Papa did not like the taste of the chilled half-boiled egg and so he did not eat it. After lunch, we hung around at the hotel lobby for a while. This is me checking out the different vending machines my Papa pointed out to me. Papa was the one who patiently looked after me and spent time with me because Mama was slumping on a lounge chair feeling miserable as she was tired, having slept very very little during the flight.

With the lack of sleep due to the night flight and yet having to wait another 2 hours to check into the hotel would have been miserable had we not found this place- an aquarium! And it's just next to our hotel. No prize for guessing its name- Sunshine City Aquarium :)

Touring an aquarium was something Papa thought we could perhaps do on our first day after we had rested enough in the hotel. In the end, we actually visited the aquarium before we checked into the hotel. This really kept us occupied until it was time to collect our keys and we could go to our room.

We stayed at the 23rd floor and if Mama remembered correctly, our room number was 2315. This is the view from our hotel window and below are the toiletries found in the attached bathroom.

The quality of the Pola toiletries is quite good and Mama eventually decided to use only the facial wash that she had brought along, keeping the shampoo and body wash for future trips.

After we checked in and had our showers, Papa and Mama fell asleep as they were really tired out while I was left to walk around the room on my own. My parents were too tired to bother about me. Thank God that I was kept safe and sound. When Mama opened her eyes again, she found me sleeping on the carpeted floor at the side of the bed where she was.

When we had rested enough, we went out for dinner at Sunshine City Complex next to the hotel and this time round, we had ramen. But before we could eat, Papa has to place his order by buying tickets from this vending machine.

After dinner, we continued to walk around the basement of Sunshine City Complex and we found a Mac Donald. Papa bought a packet of fries and got Mama an ice cream cone. But look who's enjoying it instead. ;p

Then, we went back to our hotel room where Mama washed me up and put me to bed. This is me in my sleepwear. As I am not in the habit of using a blanket, Mama decided to have me wear 2 layers of clothes to sleep so that I would not catch a cold, hopefully. This is especially because I am unable to articulate if I really do feel cold and so Mama thought it's better to dress me more warmly :)

(On our first night in the room, bed for me was actually a bathrobe spread open on the carpeted floor. But in the middle of the night, when Mama found me standing at the foot of her bed, she carried me onto her bed to sleep between her and Papa. )

Meanwhile, Papa went out on his own to explore the surroundings of our hotel. By the time he came back, I was already asleep....

A Trainy Day

Ladies and Gentlemen, we interrupt the series of blog posts on our Japan trip with a more updated insert on how I spent today.

If my activities today can be used to name the day, this day may well be named Public Transport Day. Today, Mama took me on almost all modes of public transport you can find at the area where we stay. First, we took a bus to Yew Tee MRT station. Then we took a MRT to Choa Chu Kang and then we took a LRT.

This is probably my first meaningful trip on a LRT. As it was not crowded, Mama and I managed to get a seat right at the front of the train where I can see the rail.

We took a LRT and traveled through all the stops in the LRT line. After slightly more than halfway through, I wanted to alight but Mama managed to persuade me to stay til the end when we came back to Choa Chu Kang again.

Then we took a MRT back to Yew Tee. This is me, looking at the train leave the station after we alighted at Yew Tee.

By then, Mama was uncomfortably hungry and so we ate at a foodcourt. Mama would have taken me for a haircut had it not been for the fact that I walked out of the shop shaking my head after seeing a lady having her hair treated by a machine known as a hair dryer.

Then we went to NTUC to buy some grocery and after the grocery shopping, I insisted on carrying the bottle of body wash Mama bought for my bath time.

Mama let me have my way as I was really insistent about it. Mama thinks it's quite funny how I carried the body wash and walked all the way from the NTUC to the bus stop outside Yew Tee MRT station. Yes, I held onto it even when we took the escalator from basement to the ground floor.

Oh, by the way, did Mama tell you she stopped by at a SAM machine to pay her handphone bill and I still had the bottle with me?

Then, we took a taxi home and I still have the bottle with me.

The only thing is, when we were about to alight, I forgot about the bottle as I moved myself towards the taxi door. Mama had to remind me of it and took the bottle out for me. Then I continued to carry it home. It's by no mean feat, mind you. The bottle was slightly heavy and it took me a few tries to get the right grip on the bottle.

And I sure enjoy pumping out the body wash from the bottle when I had my shower after we reached home.. ok.. it's nap time... bye.....
