Nai Nai's birthday

For Nai Nai's birthday this year, we had 2 rounds of celebration. Nai nai asked to have a birthday dinner at Imperial Herbal restaurant and so we had dinner there on the Saturday just before her actual birthday. After dinner, Shen Shen arranged to have us go over her place for dinner on the following Thursday and it turned out it was Nai nai's actual birthday. So we decided to turn it into a small birthday celebration. Papa bought a cake on his way home after work. Here are some pictures taken on Thursday. Papa and me sharing some moments together.

Papa and Mama thought it would be interesting to have me take a picture against the wall as I was wearing a yellow shirt that day. From that day onwards, I often asked Mama is the wall in Shu Shu's house is still yellow when we pass by his place on our way home from school. I had thought it was purple but after some time, the wall had turned to yellow! Mama tried to explain some renovations had been done but I was unable to understand what happened.
If Mama remembers correctly, the pictures below were all taken by me. This year, I wanted to take pictures and Nai nai didn't to pose with me.

Don't ask why Mama seems like she is the birthday girl, standing in front of the cake. It's a matter of perspective. I was actually standing next to Nai nai when I took the above picture. You can see her hand at the bottom left hand corner of the picture.

This one was taken years ago on Nai nai's birthday when I was younger. Then, I knew not what was happening. Now, I can easily belt out the birthday song in English, Mandarin and Malay, all thanks to my school. :)

The Icing on the Cake

Mama took a couple of videos clips featuring me at The Icing Room. Here's one she thought she can share.

My 4 and a half Years Old Birthday

On 18th September 2012, Tuesday, I turned exactly 4 and a half years old. Mama has been reading this blog of Aunty Cheyanne's friend who celebrates her daughters' birthday every 6 months and she decided to do something special for me on my 4.5 years old birthday.

On that day, Mama brought me to school in the morning as usual but she told Teacher Karen she will fetch me early that day as she wanted to take me out. So she came for me earlier some time before 3 pm. I was still taking my nap then and was woken up. See, this is me still sleepy....

Mama brought me for a snack and drink at Mac Donalds' at Causeway Point. She chose this place as she received a tipoff from Teacher Karen there is an Icing Room here. See, I am still kind of sleepy. Mama thought the toy from the happy meal is a nice one. She even guided me where to stick the labels on the toy car.

Still sleepy looking.....

What really woke me up is what we did at The Icing Room. For a small price of about $12, Mama got me a cake and I was allowed to choose some icing which I could put on the cake. Mama thought it will be quite fun for me and I did enjoy it except I probably did not quite know what I was doing.
Looks promising, right?
Ta-dah!! The above is the end product we brought home. Mama told herself she should not waste money on this again until I am much older. Papa said the cake has a nice taste and Mama has to agree. Perhaps, Mama should had asked Papa to do the icing part with me. He certainly has a better flair than Mama who more or less left me to my own devices.....

Starbucks

Dear all,
Mama has been working some of the times and lazy at other times. This explains why my blog has not been updated much. This is me at Starbucks at Liang Court, engrossed with my iPad game. I was not too interested in the drink Papa ordered nor the apple juice Mama got for me.

Mama has decided I am the type who eats to live and it's a waste of money to buy me good food. In fact, she probably buys this idea so much that when she was at a Japanese steamboat buffet recently, she ate all the wagyu beef slices on her own and offered me none! She only remembered she had not given me any beef the day after the meal or something. Sigh.

Mama and Me

This is me and Mama when we popped by Papa's graduation ceremony for a short while to say Hi to Mama's colleagues at Biblical Graduate School of Theology. Mama worked there from end Dec 2011 to end of May 2012. Now, Mama can spend more time with me. Yeah! :D

Mama particularly like the words printed on the backdrop. We did not take a picture at this spot intentionally. Mama only saw these words when she saw the picture Aunty En Jin took for us. Mama hopes I will also grow in Christlikeness and develop an integrated worldview for effective service in the Church and the Market place. Amen. :)

Countdown to Shu Shu and Aunty Dawn's Wedding

For the past 2 weeks, I had been at home with Mama because of hand-foot-mouth disease and I often told Mama I wanted to go to Shu Shu's wedding now.

So Mama came up with an idea. She sat next to me at the computer and helped me put a table on an empty Word document. She then got me to key in the numbers in each square and we printed this out. She taught me to cross out one box every day until we reached the box at the bottom left hand corner.

Ok, it may be too faint for you to see it but that word says "wedding".

So every one or two days, I will make crosses in the boxes. Shu shu's wedding is just 2 weeks from now. I want to go Shu Shu's wedding!! :)

Church Wedding

Dear all,
These were taken when I attended a church wedding on 14th April 2012.

If you are wondering where are the pictures of the bride and groom, sorry, there aren't any. Mama thinks the church wedding is probably another iPad gaming session to me. She was slightly amused how I was able to attract so many friends with an iPad. What's more, I was able to gently shrug off any hands that are unwelcomed so that I maintained the ownership of the iPad. Though I am not aggressive, I am certainly no pushover either. No episode of the iPad being snatched away from some bullies and me bursting out in tears.

Maybe this because these children grew up in Christian homes and they are very well brought up. Mama also enjoyed herself catching up with her reading somewhere nearby.

This wedding was held in Johor Bahru followed by a 8 course lunch reception.

During the wedding service, I clung to Mama like a koala bear and with her explanation, I managed to sit through the wedding procession as well as the praise and worship. Mama took the chance to educate me about being a page boy for Shu Shu's wedding. I agreed to help Shu Shu carry the ring pillow during his wedding.

When I were not able to stay in the worship hall, Mama took me out and we found some nice sofa outside the worship hall where I played with my parents' iPad.

This is Papa and me, waiting for Nai Nai, Shu Shu and Aunty Dawn to come out of the shopping mall behind us. The worship hall was actually in this mall. After this, we went for a 8 course wedding lunch reception. It was just like a typical Chinese wedding dinner in Singapore, except it was held in the afternoon.

Mama thinks my behaviour at the lunch reception was rather commendable even though I was really tired. The reception only started at around 2.30pm and finished at around 4pm. By the time we arrived back in Singapore at around 6pm, I was so tired that I fell asleep in Papa's car. Now, I am looking forward to Shu Shu and Aunty Dawn's wedding almost everyday but that's for another post. :)
