Papaya

Today, I went with Mama to the market and she bought a papaya for me to try. Of course, I could only eat a small amount but because we never know how long those cut slices from the fruit stalls has been displayed and if they are still nutritious, she thinks it's best to get the whole papaya. She read that the riper the fruits, the sweeter they are and so she chose one that looked very ripe and had already been peeled. It turned out that the papaya was so ripe that the surface was quite mashy when she removed it from the cling wrap.

She cut a small amount for me to try. Boy, it was such a sweet surprise. You see, she was feeding me with bland rice cereal when she decided to give me some juice of the papaya as the cereal was a little dry. So it was a mouthful of rice cereal and the next thing I knew, there was a sweet taste in my mouth. Mama smiled at me and I smiled back realising she had given me something sweet. She then used her spoon to mash the papaya and gave it to me. I like the sweet taste so much that I still wanted to eat after I had finished the small amount of papaya. She ended up giving me the rest of the rice cereal. Well, though it still tastes bland but perhaps I was so hungry that I slurped it up anyway. You see, my previous milk feed was 3 and 1/2 hour ago and so I was pretty hungry.

Now, Mama is left with this lot of papaya in the picture above and she and Papa would have to finish it by themselves. Mama should have thought of freezing some of it to give me tomorrow but she didn't and now, they are going to have to eat them all...

(By the way, Mama and Papa are no papaya fans though they don't mind eating it once in a while. ;p )
