A Long Saturday

Dear all,

I had a really long Saturday. Uncle Bernard and Aunty Lorraine got married on Saturday 6th Dec at TA2 and our family was invited to both his church wedding in the morning and wedding dinner.

As Mama was reading Scriptures during the wedding service, Nai Nai was asked to take care of me as Papa was supposed to go to army camp in the morning and he was not sure if he could make it to the service. Thank God Papa did arrive before the wedding began and so I slept in the pram next to Papa during the service. I woke up halfway during the service but Papa kept me quiet with a toy and I was a good boy throughout the service. :)

After the service ended, Mama came to look for me and we hanged around the sanctuary waiting to take a group picture with Uncle Bernard and Aunty Lorraine. Because of me, Papa and Mama were asked to sit at the same row as newly weds and here is a picture that was taken from Uncle Kenneth's Facebook profile. :)

After the buffet lunch, we went home and Papa took a nap while Mama washed up some stuff and prepared to go for the wedding dinner. This is the 2nd time I attend a wedding dinner. We were seated with Uncle Kenneth, Aunty Xiaowen and Aunty Yi Jie. The dinner was held at Da Paolo Bistro Bar at Rochester Park. This is the first time we go to Rochester Park.

Mama thinks the food is yummy but I didn't get to eat anything. It's also a nice place and both Papa and Mama enjoyed the dinner. It ended at around 10pm but it was already considered late for me as I am usually asleep by 9pm. In fact, when Aunty Lorraine's friends were about to sing a song for her, I actually protested!!

Still, Mama thinks I have been a good boy as I was happy enough to be left in the pram most of the time and even Aunty Xiaowen and Aunty Yi Jie thinks I am a good boy as I have been quiet and happy most of the time. I even fell asleep in the pram at around 9pm. I was the last baby to leave the restaurant even though I was the youngest. Mama and Papa really try not to revolve their life around me but let my life revolve around theirs! Haha!! :)

Domestic Violence

This morning, Mama wanted to sleep in a bit more especially since I was not crying for milk after waking up and so Papa took it upon himself to play with me. When Mama left the bed and came into my room, Papa was playing the birdie puppet with me. Upon seeing Mama, the first thing he told her was that I scratched his face and left a scar.

Indeed, there was a red line on the left side of Papa's face. Guess what did Mama say? She actually asked Papa to scratch me back. Afterall, in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible, it is in the law that it's an eye for an eye. Mama used to think it's kind of cruel until a pastor told her it is more of mercy instead. Otherwise, it may well be a life for an eye. ;p

Papa gave a very godly answer. He said, Jesus has made things new and there is no need "for an eye for an eye" law but rather, turn the other cheek. :)

Anyway, back to my behaviour. Now that I am more expressive and more interested in exploring my surroundings, I often use my hands as the first contact between me and my object of interest. I love to explore faces and so it's no wonder Papa was scratched by me. Mama said she would feel embarassed if I do it to other children.

I am now the perpetrator of many episodes of domestic violence : kicking, pulling of hair and not to forget, scratching. It was not Mama who taught me these but she and Papa had been the victims of many hair pulling episodes and it really hurts when I pull their hair as they would let out a painful cry. Strangely, it seems like only Mama and Papa would cry out in pain. Nai Nai and many others whose hair I had pulled seemed alright. In fact, Mama tried a couple of times to pull my hair back but it merely made me smile. Of course, she can't bear to use too much strength on me.

Oh, back to the scratching episode this morning, did I tell you my nails were quite long as Mama has not cut it for more than a week? Papa thinks I am smart as I know how to make my contact, then sink my nails into the skin to scratch. Mama certainly doesn't think so. Hopefully, I will grow out of this phase soon.

I Drank Soup

This is "Loh Wong Gua" (old cucumber) soup Mama made today. Aunty Valerie advised Mama to make some soup which can be used as a stock to make porridge for me and advised Mama to make this soup. Last Saturday, when my grand-aunt visited me at home, she said I can drink some of the soup. So Mama made this soup for dinner and froze some of it unsalted as a stock to make porridge next time and gave me this wee little bit to drink with my porridge.

As you can see from the picture below, I wasn't really happy maybe because I was trying to use the spoon or I may have been strapped to my bouncer chair for too long. Still, I dranked the soup without much objection.

Papa likes to drink soup and Mama usually tries to make some soup for him when she prepares dinner for him. Maybe when I am grown up, I will enjoy soup like Papa. :)

Sit Up!!

Dear all, I hit another milestone today! Compared to the one last evening when I am able to pull myself up, Mama is quite sure I am able to do this one repeatedly. It's only a matter of fine tuning it. I actually pulled myself up from all fours to a sitting position!

This morning, Mama saw me do it when she put me on my play mat for some exercise. I did it once and then again. Mama quickly took a video of it. Then she sent a text message to Papa who was at work and they are both thankful to God that I am able to do this. In fact, when Papa spent time with me after coming home from work, he asked Mama how to make me do it and she advised him to put me on my back on the play mat and watch me do it. I showed Papa and he tried to fine tune my movements.

What you are about to see, is the clip Mama took. It is a silent one as Mama likes to observe me quietly and she does not want me to be distracted by her. But towards the end, somewhere after 38 seconds, you will hear a loud shrill voice suddenly. That's my excited Mama for you. Don't say I didn't warn you... Haha!! ;p

My Walker

Dear all, this is the walker Nai Nai bought for me on the occasion of my baptism. God-willing, I will be going through water baptism on 21st Dec in church. Nai Nai had been telling my parents and Aunt Cheyanne, Papa's younger sister not to get me a walker as she is going to buy me one.

2 days ago, when Papa and Mama brought me to Ye Ye's place for dinner, Nai Nai already had the walker ready and I was placed in it. It is quite fun and everyone including myself like this new experience of me in a walker. Mama quickly took some pictures and here is one of them.

I am very smart because I actually know how to travel short distances in the walker the first time I was placed in it. Kind of instinctive, no teaching nor guidance required. But I actually only know how to move backwards! Not very forward-moving at this point in my life. Haha. ;p

This walker can also be stoppered by its own safety feature so that it becomes stationary. Papa decided to leave this walker at Ye Ye's house so that when we visit again, I can be placed in it. See you again when we go Ye Ye's house, my new walker! :)

UFO

This is me busy at my new play station. This play station is another hand-me-down from Mama's cousin, Aunty Chew Poh. It kind of reminds Mama and Papa of a UFO because it is round. Again, Papa is the one who took it out of the box, assembled it and taught me how to play in it.
According to Aunty Chew Poh, this will help me learn to stand. Papa said this thing must cost quite a lot of money and God has really provided for us as we won't be able to buy such a toy. Mama also feeds me rice cereal and porridge when I am in this UFO. I like my UFO because it is such an interesting and colourful toy with 5 different activities.... :)
Another activity that is not at the play station : tv watching. Many a times, Papa puts me in it while he watches tv and I watch the same programme as him instead of playing. The TV programmes and advertisements are so interesting to watch that I am not too interested in the cartoon vcds/dvds of the bible stories Mama borrowed from the church library. Mama hopes it is because I am too young and when I am older, I will enjoy watching these cartoons. :)

My Play Ring

When I was younger, maybe just about 3 months old, Aunty Chew Poh, Mama's cousin came to visit us and gave Mama a play ring but Mama had kept it in its box until recently. Papa inflated it for me and decided that this will be like a mini play pen for me to keep me safe from falling. Initially, I enjoy being in this play mat due to the novelty and its colourful fabrics.
Then I decided that it may not be that wonderful afterall as sometimes, my movements are hindered. But I soon learn to get used to it. Also, it can be quite warm in the ring as the ring is made of a very big piece of fabric.
Mama tried to wash it once but she discovered this thing cannot be machine washed and she has to wash it by hand. This washing caused the kitchen to flood but clever Papa had found a way that Mama can use so that she can wash the ring fabric in the bathroom. Still, it was so tiring to wash it Mama promised herself if she needs to wash this thing again, she will dump it. As if she will! Haha! ;p
