A Lesson Learnt

Where is Daniel?!?!

If you asked the same question, you just asked the same question as Mama. Only she did it with more emotional intensity (read: fear)..

This morning, after we came back from marketing, Mama meant to keep the minced pork and liver in the fridge before bringing me downstairs for some fun at the playground. She had taken for granted that I had always stood at the gate playing with it and thought I will do the same today. After telling me to wait for her at the gate, she left me to play with our gate while she kept her stuff and washed her hands.

When she came out of the kitchen, I was gone!!

Mama was very frightened that when she called my name, I did not respond. She ran into the house again to see if I was hiding in the rooms. Then she ran up one storey to see if I had climbed the stairs to go to my neighbour's place. Then she ran along the corridor to see if I had wandered away. No, no, no. I was nowhere to be found! I had run away from home!

Mama was horrified and quickly locked the door to our house and took a lift downstairs, praying very hard that I can be found and promising God that she will not let me out of her sight again.

When the lift reached ground floor, she saw a young uncle looking down as if talking to a young child and he looked as if he was looking for someone. When the lift door opened, I appeared in Mama's view. Mama has found me!!

She quickly gave me a big hug and thanked the uncle who then took a lift and went home. Then she brought me to the playground where she called Papa to inform him what had happened. But at the playground, Mama also pinched my right ear lobe very hard for not listening to her.

Mama has learnt her lesson and she will try to be more careful with me next time. =p
