I Gave Mama a Mini-Shock!

One afternoon 2 days ago, I was napping and Mama was cooking some noodles for lunch in the kitchen after being on the computer for a while. After the noodles were cooked, she thought she heard the sound of the computer. She remembered she had switched off the computer and so she came out from the kitchen to take a look and there I was!

I actually woke up from my nap, saw that there was no one in the living room, went straight to the power switch, flicked it and turned on the computer all on my own. By the time Mama saw me, I was already on the chair. What an opportunist I am!

Papa said the computer must not be plugged in to the power source when it is not being used. This will stop me from turning it on by myself and using the computer more than what is good for me. :)

Going To School

This morning, it looked a little like it might rain and so Mama brought an umbrella with her as she took me to school. Actually, it could well be that I was the one who wanted to bring the umbrella out and since the weather did not look too promising, Mama decided to let me have my way. Being the bossy little helper, I had "volunteered" to help her with the umbrella. Here I am in the lift with the umbrella.

Soon after we came out of the lift, Mama took this video of how I kept going and going...

When I turned around and found Mama using her handphone camera, I actually stopped and striked a pose but Mama stopped the video too soon and lost that moment. Then I kept going and going again...

Ok, that's about all for this post, got to go... bye!

My First Phone call

Hello, hello, this is me on the phone. It's not just an empty pose, mind you. Papa was on the other line when this picture was taken and he actually turned on the speaker of his handphone. As a result, Papa and Ye ye could hear me call Ye ye.

I had been interested in phone for quite a while and occasionally, Da Yi Po would speak to me when she is on the line talking to Mama and I wanted to be part of the action too. Sometimes, when Papa or Mama calls, I will also get a chance to hear their voice over the phone. But many a times, I only smiled and marveled at the fact that there is someone on the other side talking to me and I seldom reply any utterance.

This month, Mama tried to let me use the phone. She would dial her own handphone number using our house line and then pass me the house phone. Then she would talk to me over the phone. Sometimes, she tries to go out of my sight so that I can understand that I am not hearing her voice because she is just next to me but because her voice is transmitted over the phone line. In this way, we had kind of been having some phone calls going on.

That day, Papa called from hospital to speak to Mama. After speaking to Papa for a while, Mama passed me the phone and Papa turned on the speaker phone without Mama knowing. Mama took out her handphone camera and started taking some pictures of me on the phone while trying to coax me to call Ye ye as she thought Ye ye was talking to me on the other end. I really called Ye ye and that evening, maybe because of this incident, Ye ye told Aunty Cheyanne that I had brought him a lot of joy! Praise God! :)

24 months old

Dear all,
I am already 24 months old! At 24 months, Mama supposes I am still curious about a lot of things but I had also gained some mastery over some stuff like today, I actually turned on the computer on my own immediately after I woke up from my nap! Mama was making her lunch in the kitchen when I woke up, walked to the power socket, pressed the switches and sat in front of the computer waiting for it to start up and all these, with my tutu in my mouth, no less! ;p

I also love to drink with straws and Yakult/Vitagen probably remains as hot favourite though I am equally enthusiastic about milk in tetrapaks and Allswell Waterchestnut drink.

I am also more aware of various parts of my body. I will point to my mouth and Mama thinks it's because I watch Cookie Monster chomp his cookies everyday on the Sesame Street VCDs and DVDs. I also like to cover my eyes and I can play Ernie Says which is actually Simon Says in Sesame Street version.

It had also been easier to decipher what I want as I can point to the objects or the directions I want to go.

But I am still very hyperactive and this morning, when Mama peeped into my classroom window, she saw my classmates seated in front of my teacher while I stood about half a metre away from them and Mama even saw me walk away from the group. Even Aunty Cheyanne said that I am hyperactive. Looks like it is not easy to keep me seated. ;p

Ok, that's about all for the moment. Mama will update this post again when she can. Thanks for reading so far. :)

Goodbye, My First Pram Pram

One of the pieces of advice my maternal grandpa gave to Mama when she was pregnant with me was to buy a pram so that I can be placed in one for naps when Papa and Mama eat their meals.

When I was about 2 months old or earlier, Papa picked up my first pram from Uncle Gary and Aunty Valerie's place. Uncle Gary and Aunty Valerie had a friend who did not need the pram anymore and they had kindly taken the pram from the friend who agreed to pass it to us. It was my first pram and it certainly made it very easy to take me to places.

This is me when I was still very young and we were taking a walk at a reservoir.

I was almost 4 months old in this shot.

This is me when I was about 12 months old if Mama is not mistaken.
And one year later, my last nap in this pram on 20th March, at IMM food court in the evening.

Some babies do no like prams and Mama knows of a baby girl who is about 3.5 months younger than me but had refused to be strapped in a pram some time ago. Me, well, I am still willing to be wheeled around at the age of 2 years old. This is one of the reasons why Mama do think I am a good boy. :)

This pram had served Papa and Mama well especially when I need to be localised. However, I am outgrowing it and Mama wants to get me a new pram which is more like a stroller. It turned out that Uncle Gary and Aunty Valerie also knows of someone who needs a pram at this point in time and so, after they bought me a new pram, my parents returned my first pram to Uncle Gary and Aunty Valerie.

Bye-bye, prammie. May you continue to serve your new owner well for the next 1 or 2 years. :)

My First Colouring Book

This is my first colouring book! It is printed on brown paper and costs only $1.90. Mama bought this for me during the March holidays to kind of keep me occupied. Now, she does not have to draw on white paper and let me do colouring for the time being though it may be cheaper that way.

Papa said I do not really know how to use colour pencils and Mama should keep them away from me. ;p

An Act that Pleases Papa

This morning after I came back from school and had my brunch, Mama let me watched my Sesame DVD while she hung up the laundry to dry on the bamboo poles. Then she saw me doing something and decided to take a video of it "secretly" from our kitchen..

Mama must say that I did this all by myself without her telling me to do so. Yet another piece of evidence that I am like my tidy Papa... haha... :)

Papa did say that when I keep my things, I am a joy to him. :)

My Birthday Lunch

This is my birthday mee sua. Mama thought she will make me a bowl of mee sua for lunch today though I just had mee sua for lunch yesterday. You see, making mee sua is very convenient. It is as convenient as cooking instant noodles. Mama just have to boil a pot of water, put in some meat or fishballs, the mee sua and some green vegetables and you have a good one dish meal. Yesterday, I had mee sua for convenience and today, it was because of my birthday.

Mama grew up with the idea that one gets to eat mee sua with 2 hardboiled eggs on one's birthday and so she carried on the tradition. For nutrition, she added some spinach. The crab stick was the only processed food Mama added (besides the mee sua) to make this bowl of noodles more savory. She added no salt nor seasoning to the pot of mee sua soup except for a few drops of sesame oil as she still prefers me to take as little salt as possible. The mee sua looks dry, right? So Mama added some soup.

But what I really got was this.

Mama had to remove one of the hard-boiled egg as I simply could not finish all of it. And as I could not really eat very well on my own, she had to cut everything into smaller pieces with a pair of scissors.

I ate about half the quantity served to me, including the spinach and Mama was pretty pleased with the amount I ate. Yes, I ate the spinach too. Mama found out that if green vegetables are finely cut and mixed with some food I like such as egg white and crab sticks in this case, I can actually eat them. And so you can say I am eating my greens selectively. :)

My Birthday Dinner

For dinner on my second birthday, Papa and Mama brought me to Yeye's place and this was what we had.

This is my share. :)

Mama remembered that the first time she tried to give me pizza a few months ago, I did not like it and just took a few bites. This time round, it could be that the pizza was more tasty and it had a thin crust, I was able to finish almost all of it with Nai Nai feeding me.

Papa also ordered a birthday cake for me. I was quite happy to have Papa and Mama brought out my birthday cake with 2 candles burning. All the lights were switched off and I was smiling when the cake was brought out. A pity that I did not know how to blow off the candles. Haha.

But to me, I probably loved it best when Nai Nai gave me this bottle of Vitagen. She wanted to see me put the straw into the bottle and drink it all on my own. I certainly did not disappoint her. :)

Soon after, we went home and this was the end of my second birthday celebration with my family. Thanks for sharing this occasion with me. Cheers!

I am 2 Years Old Today!

Dear all, I turned 2 years old today! Time flies! :D

Mama did not capture a very good picture of me today and these are the only 2 pictures she took of me today. :p

And as usual, when she wants to say how time flies and compare my current state to when I was born, she will add a newborn picture of mine, ok, 2 newborn pictures in this case as she browsed through my newborn pictures and found 2 of them she wanted to post. :)

As mentioned before, the fact that I am still alive and well testifies to God's protective care over me. For the year that had passed, I had grown more active as I become physically stronger and starts walking everywhere. Hence, the frequency of accidents increased.

Mama may probably never forget the scene where I fell from the top of a slide when I was trying to walk down the slide. I also slipped and fell in the bathroom twice, rolled off Mama's bed and there were 2 occasions when I was next to Mama when she was mopping the floor and I slipped and hurt the back of my head.

Thank God I am still alive and well. Thank God for giving me life and for protecting me! :)

A Playmate!

Before you start thinking Mama is pregnant, no, she is not. This is about me and my neigbour. :)

When Mama brought me to the playground just now, I met a boy there who is 5 months younger than me. Mama does not remember seeing them before and so they may have just moved here from China.

We spent quite a bit of time playing with each other. I really giggled very hard and enjoyed myself as we imitated each other and followed each other around.

Mama was also really amused by the sheer amount of laughter generated and here is one of the video clips she took. Cheers!

Corrective Work in Progress

This afternoon, shortly after giving me some Koko Crunch cereals and a packet of milk, Mama brought me to the playground downstairs. Please bear with me for 1 minute and 10 seconds as I take some time to clear the park of some fallen leaves. Mama captured this video after I started work for a while... ;)

By the way, this post is titled Corrective Work in Progress not because I was being punished and corrected, but Mama thought maybe I perceived it was wrong to have fallen leaves lying around and so set out to correct the situation.

Chances are, it's more of me exploring the world around me. :)

Pa and Ma's 6th Wedding Anniversary

Dear all, Papa and Mama had gone off to celebrate their 6th wedding anniversary and here I am, all alone by myself... ;(

Far from it!!! The fact is, Mama wanted to eat at a nice place like P S Cafe for their 6th wedding anniversary and Papa decided we will go to PS Cafe at Harding Road, near Dempsey Hills, for lunch. When we reached PS Cafe, there was a long queue and no one even bothered with Mama when she stood at the front of the queue, waiting for someone to offer her a table.

In the end, Papa and Mama had their lunch at nearby Dome restaurant at Dempsey Hill. Papa had a steak set meal and the steak was really nice and tender though Papa requested for it to be well done. Mama ordered a salmon set meal as she wanted me to eat some good fish. Turned out that the mashed potato that came with it was tasty too. Even Mama who usually only eat her potatoes in the form of French Fries think it was lovely.

Sorry, no pictures here as they were trying to take care of me and eat at the same time. :)

When Mama thought we were going to have lunch at P S Cafe, she thought Papa will get to drink his favourite onion soup and when we left PS to go somewhere else for lunch, Mama thought there will be no onion soup for Papa. It turned out that the Soup of the Day at Dome was onion soup! Praise God. He really knows what Papa likes. By the way, I enjoyed the onion soup too!:)

After the lunch, Papa and Mama brought me to Ben and Jerry's at Dempsey. This is where the above pictures were taken. It's kind of like a first time for me to be on a swing and so Mama took some pictures to commemorate. Here is me and Mama. Papa was not really in the mood to be photographed and so he took these pictures for us. :)

Self-Directed Potty Training

To help me get potty trained, Mama actually borrowed this book titled Baby's Potty from the library to read to me. It's a book that tells us what a potty is used for.

Last week, during one of the afternoons when Mama was reading to me, I actually chose this book for Mama to read to me. When she read about the potty, I actually went to the living room to bring my potty into the room for Mama. Of course, she is very pleased about it! :)

But she has been very slacked about my potty training for the past few days. When will I ever be potty-trained? ;p

I am A Good Boy

Mama has been going out to give tuition on Saturday mornings before I was born and after I came along, it was decided that Papa will take care of me on Saturday mornings and Mama will continue to give tuition outside.

Initially, Papa found it difficult to take care of me when I was very young, say a few months old. On weekdays mornings, I will usually be sleeping but when it comes to Saturday mornings, I will fuss as if I was intentionally making things difficult for Papa. Mama thought this might be so because I regarded Papa as my playmate and I wanted him to play with me. Whatever the reason, it was really tough for Papa to handle me on Saturday mornings in those days.

Now, it's a different story. As long as Papa is not tired, he is happy to take care of me on Saturday mornings. It's our father-and-son time. On one of the Saturday mornings this year, Papa actually took me to Yew Tee Central to run some errands and bought me a waffle to eat. Then we watched the MRT trains go by together.

Last Saturday morning, Papa and I walked to Yew Tee Central together.
Sorry, no real photos available as Mama was giving tuition then. This picture of me and Papa walking along the corridor in Malacca should suffice to paint the picture? ;P

Yes, we were on foot and not in a car. Papa said he held my hand and we walked there for Hotcake breakfast at Mac Donald's and then we walked back.

When Mama came home, Papa even had the toilet washed and some housework done. He said it was as if I understood when Papa told me to stay in my playpen to watch Sesame Street disc while he went to wash the toilet. I really stayed there obediently and watched the telly.

Papa also said I am a joy to him because I like to keep things. Although I like to throw my toys out of my playpen, I usually keep them once Mama lets me out of the playpen. This means I am a neat person like Papa. Mama likes to say I looks like her on the outside but I really have Papa's traits such as being cautious and neat-loving on the inside. :)

One Eyed Jack

Today, I turned one week older. But when Mama saw me in the morning, she had a surprise. I had become an one-eyed jack!! This is really what I looked like. No camera tricks, no special effects using cosmetics. I had a swollen eye-lid!

I was bitten by a mosquito or some unknown insect when we were waiting at the doctor's clinic yesterday. Mama did not apply any medication for me for fear that my eye may get irritated if I rub it and so she had left it alone.

This morning when I woke up, the eye lid had become swollen! Mama thought she will leave it to heal on its own but when we went marketing, we met my classmate, Queenie's grandma, who said it's better to let a doctor take a look for fear it may affect my vision.

So Mama took me to the GP clinic nearby. Doctor Benny Lim took a look and gave me some cream to be applied thinly when I sleep. Mama forgot to ask if my vision will be affected and it also did not cross her mind to ask the doctor to check if I was still wheezing. She just told the doctor that she wanted to be sure it was not a drug allergy although she believes it is quite unlikely as I had not eaten any medicine from the time I went to sleep til I woke up in the morning.

But no worries, I was still very active today. In fact, more active than yesterday when I was nebulised. See, I was checking out the touch-screen on this ticketing machine after going marketing with Mama.

When Papa came home, he was also very surprised to see me in this state. He kept saying I looked funny and even jested that this is not his son because this is not what his son looks like. ha!

Nevertheless, we still had some fun together in the evening.

After dinner, we went to Yew Tee Central where Papa returned some discs he had rented and he paid for my ride on a kiddy-ride machine.

See how different this machine is from the one in Malacca? :)

Nebulised!

Dear all, this is me undergoing nebulisation at my pediatrician's clinic because I was wheezing. It's actually a process when vaporised medication is sent via the face mask directly to my lungs to help me open my airways.

It was my second nebulisation during the same visit. If I had to be nebulised when I go and see Dr Winston Ng, it's usually done once for about 5 minutes or so. But yesterday, I had to be nebulised twice as I was still wheezing after the first round.

Mama tried to distract me by showing me some video clips on her handphone and then it occured to her that she should take some pictures and so here we go.

As you can see,I was certainly not enjoying it. In fact, I cried during the process and Mama felt very sorry for me. She also felt very bad that she had not been more vigilant to keep me away from the dusty roads during the Malacca trip. You see, I had been coughing for the past week since coming back from Malacca and that was why Papa and Mama decided to send me to the pediatrician. I had not recovered even after seeing our family doctor and had taken medication for an entire week.

After the second round of nebulisation, I was better and Papa said he could really tell the difference as my breathing was no longer noisy but very silent like a car engine that is silent. I will be going for a review this Thursday and hopefully I will get better. ;)

Potty Training Day #2

After the first day of potty training, Mama bought me this new potty the next day. This new potty cost $1.90 from a sundry store at Yew Tee central. This is the "old-fashioned" kind that Uncle Quan, Mama's cousin, used when he was a toddler himself more than a decade ago.

Mama bought me a new potty because she thinks the one Papa bought me has a rim that is too thick and makes it difficult for me to stand and pee into it. By the way, I took the photo above with Mama's help. She held her handphone camera and tried to explain to me about the idea of "point and shoot" (we are talking about photo-taking here ;p) and I pressed the shutter button. Cool, yah? :)

I regard the new potty as another toy I have.

In fact, I like to sit on it at times but not for more than a minute or so. And it always kind of topple over if it's not held to the ground when I try to get up. Hopefully, if it should ever hold my waste, the contents will not spill when I try to stand.

Still, she didn't manage to catch anything with this new potty. sigh. Tomorrow, Mama may try to resume training which was stopped due to the weekend and we were at the doctor yesterday. ;)
