My Pyjamas

This is me in my kind of first pyjamas. It was a gift from da yi po, Mama's aunty. Papa said he used to wear pyjamas too when he was young and so did Aunty Cheyanne. In fact, both of them had this pyjamas set that were actually made of the same material. :)

Another Hair Cut

Papa and Mama wanted to let my hair grow longer so that my head can be covered and so I had not had a haircut since mid-December last year. The Chinese New Year that just passed, many had commented that my hair is long and my parents had to explain that they were trying to allow my hair to grow.

At the beginning of the month, Mama brought me for a haircut at Papa's request. I was a little unsure initially when the hairdresser draped the white cover over me. It's like, what was she trying to do, wrapping me up with my hands tucked under.

But Mama is happy that I didn't fuss at all over the haircut this time! Yeah!! I am a big boy already, you know! But I still could not hold in my saliva when Mama gave me a sweet during the haircut to keep me seated on the chair. As a result, pink saliva flowed down the white cover sheet when I was eating the sweet. Mama tried to wipe the saliva from the sheet but she might have left some behind.

Mama wonders if the sheet will be washed before it is used to cover someone else. It seems to have my saliva on it, you know. ;p

Here is the end product. ta-da!!

Papa said I look very good in this haircut and I look like him when he was young! wow... :)

Potty Training Day #1

For some time, I had been showing some signs that I may be ready for toilet training. I would stop whatever I am doing and bend my knees a little when I am poo-ing. My face will show some expressions of me doing the pushing.

Also, I would pull the tabs off my diaper and remove my diapers when Mama forgot to change them. Mama tried to tell me not to do this as I may end up wetting the floor (which I did on a few occasions) but she also tried not to be hard on me over this as she does not want me to become resistant to removing my diapers when the time comes for me to be start potty training.

Though it may seem strange coming from a man who has very little experience with toddlers, it was actually Papa who advised Mama how to potty train me. The idea is to put me on the potty with my diapers on once we can tell that I am pooing and once I get used to the idea of pooing on the potty with diapers on, Mama will remove the diapers when I am pooing to help me poo in the potty. Sounds good, yah?

But many a times, Mama was resistant to rush for the potty when she sees I am pooing. Perhaps she did not want to cause a commotion over this and stop me from pooing as I wonder what the fuss was all about. So we did not make much progess on this.

I did not got to school for the past few days and Mama thought perhaps this is a good time to start potty-training again. So today after my nap, Mama actually removed my diapers and really spent time watching me with a potty nearby while I go about diaper-less. This was actually good for me as I had been having bad nappy rash for the past 2 days. Airing my bottom will do me good. :)

She wanted to try catching me when I wee and/or poo to show me the idea is to do it in the potty. Well, I did sit on the potty for a short while but nothing was caught in it.

After an hour or so of waiting and spending time with me, she decided to call it a day for my training as she wanted to give me some food. I had not produced any waste for her to catch and so she will try again the next day. She also decided that she will buy me a new potty for my training as the one in the picture has a thick rim and she thinks it's not too useful for catching my urine. Want to see what my new potty looks like? Come back again when she has more updates. May she have a better catch next time ;)

Drag Waterbottle

Mama started to notice that I like to drag my stuff around when we were in the hotel room in Malacca last weekend. Since then, I had dragged my bolster and some other stuff around too.

Malacca Family Pictures

If Mama remembered correctly, this picture above was taken shortly after I woke up from my nap when we just reached the hotel in Malacca.

This one below was taken just before we left the hotel in Malacca. Cheers. :)

Malacca Trip Episode #5

After waking up in the morning, Mama gave me a bottle of milk and after we had changed and got ready, Ye ye, Nai nai, Shu shu and Mama went to the cafe in the hotel for breakfast. Papa did not join us as there were breakfast vouchers for only4 adults and Papa had given up his place. Such sacrificial love that my Papa has for all of us! :D

One bonus he did not expect when he made the sacrifice was that he could actually eat in peace without me! Ha! Mama reminded him that it's good for him to eat out so that he can eat in peace and he sure enjoyed his breakfast of chicken rice. The hotel breakfast was not exactly fantastic and so Papa really did not miss much. In fact, Mama believes if Papa had paid 23 ringgits just so that we could have breakfast together as a family, Papa will regret it as the food was only pass-able.

Mama gave me some plain porridge with scrambled eggs as well as some Koko Krunch. In between the porridge and the Koko Krunch, I actually took a walk to the swimming pool just outside the cafe. Sorry, no photos on this as Mama was busy feeding me and letting me bring her around the pool.

After breakfast, we went back to the hotel room where I spent time between Papa's room and Ye ye's room. I was kept busy checking out the cupboards, watching a little tv and taking some pictures.

This is Mama's favourite picture with me that she had taken. Nice?

We also had some fun with Papa's sunglasses. Here's me with Papa's sunglasses on my head. :)

After checking out, we went to the Bulldog Cafe for lunch and while Mama ate, Papa took me around for a walk. See what he had done to my hair when we came back to the dining table again!

After lunch, we went back to the hotel lobby where Nai nai bought some kaya and the Chen family men went to the toilet before we start the drive back to Singapore. Urm, I didn't go because I am the Chen family boy. ;)

Then, it was time to leave. We took 2 family pictures before leaving but the pictures are in Papa's camera. Mama will post it on the blog when she can. I fell asleep shortly after Papa started driving and I slept for slightly more than an hour.

Last but not least, here is another picture which Mama thinks has great meaning to her.

See the broken flower pot in the foreground? Papa's car is just parked next to it. Mama thinks God has answered her prayers to protect Papa and Shu shu's cars during the time the cars were parked in the hotel carpark. Yes, thanks be to God who has made this trip possible and kept His loving watch over us before, during and even after the trip. The trip may have ended but our journey with God continues..... :)

Malacca Trip Episode #4

After Nai nai got her shoes, we took a taxi to this place called Jonkers Street. Papa read about it before we came to Malacca. This is Papa and me at the second level of a Chendol place called 三叔公. This place is pretty near the entrance of the street where the taxi uncle dropped us.

The initial plan is to walk on for a while before settling down for some tea break but the weather was so hot that we came into this air-conditioned restaurant to escape from the heat.

After the dessert break, we continued walking along Jonkers Street. Papa bought me this new xylophone as he thinks it sounds pretty nice when struck. Along the way, we saw a man painting using water colours and Mama asked if I would like to paint too when I grow up. I replied her by striking the xylophone. Nah, painting is not my cup of tea, or at least, not yet. Making music is. :)

After walking for an hour or two at the streets, we went back to the hotel in a taxi. On hindsight, Mama thought maybe it's not a good move for me to be walking at Jonkers Street for such a long time as I was wheeled around along the streets with the moving vehicles at the same time.

That evening, I came down with a running nose which became blocked and I could not sleep well at night. Mama did not bring my nasal decongestant and she only gave me my antihistamine which was the only medicine she brought along as she thought I seemed to be fine when we left home and she took it for granted that nothing will happen on such a short trip.

Mama suspected that wheeling me along the streets for such a long duration with all the moving vehicles must have exposed me to a great amount of dust and smoke particles especially I was nearer to the ground in my pram compared to say, if I had been carried by my parents. Before we went Malacca, Dr Winston Ng already commented that I have sensitive airways. This exposure triggered off my sneezing and running nose and my mucous factory started working very hard.

The next morning, my mucous had turned brown or green (Mama can't quite remember) and I had started to cough a little. Even til now, I am still sick and I won't be able to go to school for the next few days.

In addition, I probably became over-stimulated as I refused to sleep after my shower in the hotel. It could be the stimulation of the new sights and sounds coupled with a new and unfamiliar room but I just could not settle down to sleep. At about 5.30pm, Mama decided that I shall not nap anymore but be kept awake so that I can sleep early. True enough, by 8.30pm, I had already fallen asleep in my cot and it was actually pretty easy settling me down that evening.

That was end of Day 1 for me. But not for Papa. After sleeping for a couple of hours in the cot, I fussed a little as there was very limited space for me to turn around. So Mama let me sleep on the Queen-sized bed with her and Papa. Poor Papa was kicked by me in his face numerous times even though he changed his positions. He was so uncomfortable and disturbed that he took a pillow with him and went to sleep on the 2-seater couch, leaving me and Mama to have the entire bed to ourselves.

Actually, I did not sleep well too due to my blocked nose but it's still not too bad as I did catch quite a bit of sleep. I only woke up at around 7am the next morning and it was because I was sleeping with my head propped on Mama's body and Mama thought I could continue to sleep if she just put my head on the mattress while she gets up. If she had not moved, I might have continued to sleep.

Mama spent much thought on how to keep me entertained on the road trip but it did not cross her mind that she should think about the sleeping part as well. She thought requesting for a cot bed will solve the sleep problem, forgetting bed at home is a queen-sized mattress for me. Ha.
